Sefton owl
My mate plays in the 9 aside league at graves park and he was on the opposite team. He says ‘retirement has well and truly taken it’s toll’ I was quite young when he played for us in the premier league, any memories of him? Was he from the academy? Salmonbones
We ruined him by moving him to left back. Never was the same player again.

He wasn't fast but has a great positional sense and his size allowed him to not be easy to shrug off the ball.
ZicoSterland2
Looked a world beater for 3 games. Spent most of his career at Hartlepool where he is a bit of a legend.
Junglejay
Despite the additional weight, I bet he still stands out as one of the better players. The Vets league I play in has has a few ex pros from Cambridge, Peterborough, Lincoln and Leicester, most are well over weight and complete wee wee heads but really stand out with how simple they make the game look. Junglejay
Am I right in saying that Humphreys was singled out by Marco Van Basten after a pre season game as a potential world beater.

Good though that they’ve all retrained as vets

Dutch McLovin
As usual back then we ruined one of our good youngsters. Had the potential to be a good striker but we didn’t utilise him correctly and as such he slipped down the football pyramid
Lord Snooty
Didn't he get glandular fever or something while away with England U21's?

torryowl
another homegrown lad who didn't endear himself to our supporters, seem to recall he got some right stick in the league cup win over the blunts ….had a career that lasted 20 years so must have been half decent

Swiss Toni
Being highlighted Marco Van Basten was probably the worst thing to happen to him.
Flying V
Watched him several times when he played for Wadsley Bridge falcons, bit tubby but reminded me of Gazza.

airborne_rat_of_s6
Mate Dave was friends with him and we went for a run with him in before we joined the Army. This was just before he broke into the first team at the start of the season. Lasted about half a mile. He wasn’t much of an athlete to say we were all roughly the same age. Yes, top of the League then we played Arsenal away on the Monday night. Hirst hit the bar (fastest recorded shot on Sky)? - then Des Walker got sent off and we lost 4-1 (4-0)? All above is from memory - could be wrong.
