He's not the be-all-and-end-all.

Make no mistake about it, Leeds were a much more effective unit, without him. But, that is more down to the system Bielsa employs. The need for a top quality link man to lead the line, is crucial in Leeds set-up. And that's why he favours Bamford. Bamford has all the attributes required to make that role work. However, what Bamford lacked in the early part of the season...Nketiah provided. Goals.

He didn't play often at Leeds, but managed to score 5 before November, despite starting in only two cup games. But, he hasn't scored a goal since October.

It was evident in the game at Hillsborough, why he was never fully utilised at Leeds. Leeds looked a much better, more effective unit in the 1st half. When Bamford was withdrawn at half time, Leeds struggled to get a foothold in the game...because they couldn't create those links Bamford provides effortlessly.

That said, we wouldn't be asking him to play that role. We'll be asking him to play off a main striker, look to get in behind and essentially, be that hard-working poacher with pace we crave. Now, on paper, you'd say that's a good reason to get excited about. But, don't expect to be getting a proven, finished article.

He's learning the game, and despite his reputation, he's only ever started TWO games in senior league football.

Likewise. I’m struggling to remember the last time we hyped up a forward so much, only to then sign him. Jordan someone? :ph34r:

Has the filthy gooner made his mind up yet? Starting to lose interest in him. Think maybe we should go for someone else.

@Oddschanger
 MARKET MOVER

Eddie Nketiah's odds to join Bristol City 3 days ago were as high as 5/2, they've now dropped to 4/11.
