Got to be honest, when Lees scored against Cardiff, I couldn't even motivate myself to get out of my seat to celebrate. It's just so gloomy at the moment.

It's dire isn't it.

I don't know if the club do enough personally.

A few people have made the point in this thread but the life is slowly being oozed out of the crowd its weird. Seems everyone wants to sit down and be quiet and we were outsang by about 200 Hull fans basically. Its a cultural and social issue and not exclusive to Hillsborough but it genuinely makes you feel like its the end of football atmospheres in general.

Boring long ball dross. I thought today was January 1st 2020 not 1985.

Either get a couple in the window that can genuinely change/influence a game or get ready for mid table mediocrity or worse pending EFL charge.

I would quite happily go back to 1st January 1985 that saw us have a team that would beat the top teams in the old Division 1 with players that played with pride. You do realise that we beat Man Utd away on the 1st January 1985?

Something has got to be done to improve the experience of going to Hillsborough. Currently, the club are holding onto the loyal fans who will go regardless. That has now started to dwindle and club can't afford the attendance to go any lower.

I have to agree with many on here, it feels like I have to drag myself to the games when I go, rather then be buzzing to attend. I know the club has tried fan zone type scheme with Kids but this was paper over the cracks. I really don't know what the possibilities are but we either seriously invest into Hillsborough or look for new proposed ground.

As for the football, current state, this OAP of a squad needs to completely start from scratch. New players, new attitudes, new mentality = better football? Hopefully.

It was my 44th Birthday yesterday, I have not missed an home league game since I was 4 years old, that's 40 years service, I don't want a medal, Nor praise, what I want is entertaining.

I've moved past expecting results, trophies and glory. I expect us to be crap, I expect defeats, I expect my weekends ruined.

The worrying thing is, it no longer ruins my weekends, I am numb to it, it may be age, it may be the continual disappointments, but I literally feel nothing anymore.

Watching our defenders risking everything to pass the ball back to the keeper, watching a giant beast of a forward lose header after header against one of the Seven Dwarves, it all washes over me.

I don't check the fixture list anymore, I am relieved when we play away, and judging by the atmosphere and apathy in the crowd, I am not on my own.

Please for the love of God, freshen up the squad, if it means selling a few, sell em, let's get some fresh legs in the squad, a bit of pace, athleticism, sod it maybe even a few footballers, because whatever we doing at the moment, it is not entertaining, it is not successful and it barely resembles football.

Does anyone else feel that going to Hillsborough is more of an obligation than something to look forward to these days?

Dull football that fails to energise the crowd.

No desire. No hunger.

It just feels like I'm hoping we score rather than getting excited by a team playing with determination to put the ball in the net.

I hate to say it but we play more and more like Monk's Birmingham did.

Slow, ponderous and easy to nullify.

Please, Wednesday... Give me a reason to make my voice hoarse through shouting and singing again.

Not sure this is really down to Monk. It’s frustrating we’ve lost 3 in a row when you’d have expected at least a win and a draw if not better!

But the EFL situation has created this resigned apathetic feeling as far as I’m concerned.

But wednesday wise, our dull, pedestrian performances coupled with lack of atmosphere from the crowd are making it more and more difficult for me to want to cough up £550 for next years season ticket let me assure you.

VAR in the prem, timewasting, pathetic players feigning injury, stop start games and dire referees are all making me slowly fall out of love with football I'm afraid.

And the blunts are doing well .. doesnt help.

Yep me too. Only been to a handful of games this season and likely to remain  that way. Living in York a 2 minute walk from their stadium it's easier and more enjoyable to go there at the moment.

Non league football feels more real and there is actually a better atmosphere than Hillsborough which says a lot. Plus you can stand during games as well.

The bottom line is that with DCs financial mismanagement and pending punishment, many really suspect we're fighting a relegation battle rather than a place in the play-offs. It may be that we get relegated anyway. We really do need to find out what the punishment is going to be sooner rather than later. I think fans have a right to know before Season Tickets go on sale at least. IMO all this uncertainty, alongside three iffy performances, has made many more apathetic in their support.

Well, we weren’t like that under Bruce - and he had largely the same squad of players.

Since then we’ve added the likes of Borner, Harris, Luongo, Murphy etc.  None of those are world beaters but all have been decent additions to the squad.

Monk should be getting more out of this team IMO.

Too early to make a proper judgement on Monk. But he had a lot to prove when he arrived and I'd say there remain huge question marks about him.

Possibly, though it is without doubt that huge questions remain re many of the players that have failed to produce time and time again when required to do so.

Hopefully many will be moved on, probably in the summer when contracts expire.

I thought someone might pull me on this. I should have been clearer with my post. You are quite right in saying we had a good team playing that way, back then.

What I have seen in the last 3 matches wasn’t that and nobody wants to watch long ball football these days. Especially given our ticket prices.
