Rhodes - Positive Mindset

In terms of goals conceded, we haven’t really been battered yet so fingers crossed the back 4 remains pretty solid...as you say to put someone at the side of fletcher to take half of the workload/goal scoring responsibilities, would be a god send. Fletch surely as to be setting 20 as a realistic target and Rhodes can contribute to that (all been well).

Rhodes as a pretty decent goal scoring CV and Saturday proved that with the right service/system he still knows where the onion bag is. If he can’t kick on from that then he never will. Come on JR...this is your time to shine lad.

Exactly, monk seems to put most of his imputus on working hard, keeping it tight at the back and simple going forward .

It was never going to work with Jordan under previous managers here as we played inverted wingers,  our attacks were often too slow, overpassing on the build up and just didn't whip quick balls In the box. All things that don't help JR, his biggest attributes are anticipation and speed of thought which allows him to get onto quick balls/ chances before defenders can react. He thrives on the chaos and uncertainty of quick balls in and around the box, just as he did on Saturday against forest. If we continue to play in a similar higher tempo as we did Saturday it may just allow him to finally kick start his career here, we'll have to wait and see, with fingers crossed.

We're still playing inverted wingers, but they can and do put early ball in with wrong un

The Scottish Sun is reporting Celtic are taking him up on loan in January.

That would be sooo like us.

Rhodes starts firing, forges a brilliant partnership with Fletcher, only to find we’ve pre-agreed a carp loan deal.

Let's see how he does today, hopefully his form will continue.

I think he'd do well at Celtic though if there is anything to this rumour.

Totally ineffective today, in terms of being a threat, but at least he’s working hard Think last week was one of those flash in the pan moments We definitely need someone to play off Fletcher/Nuhiu

Fine margins,  close to getting on end of 2 in first half. And that's what he does!  Other than that nothing fell to him. If you want him to be a Fletcher  you will be disappointed. Even in his Blackburn days  you ask there fans and they will tell you  for most part  of the game his contribution was minimal but bag a couple of goals.

True but can we carry a player like that? It wasn’t a game of abundant chances, but he was too often rocking back on his heels, didn’t seem to anticipate anything

What a player when played the right way scores hatfull of goals.... I'd say yes!  We put balls into great areas against Forest and look what happened

Reckon that was a one off mate As with the threat title, he should have been confident, with a positive mindset, but there didn’t seem to be any anticipation from him at all, whether from Nuhiu’s flick ons, Bannan’s balls into the box, or just being aware of the ball breaking in the the six yard box. He was slow, and slow in speed of thought We are crying out for someone to play off Fletcher/Nuhiu

He was by far the better out of our strikers. Had some good touches.

It must be so hard to play with nuhiu because you never know what he's going to do and he wins headers reasonably often but heads them to no one.

Rhodes didn't put a foot wrong today. But he didn't have a chance. You have to supply him.

This is why Rhodes will never be taken to here because we expect a striker to work the channels  and not just score goals. We got spoiled with David Hirst  who was exceptional at both.

I’ll give you that he put a shift in, but I can’t remember anything significant that he did to threaten City. Nuhiu on the other hand, yes he’s unpredictable, but he contributes. Three times he flicked on headers that an in form Rhodes should have been on to, and his general awkwardness caused their defenders problems, culminating in the penalty award. In truth, neither are worth a regular starting spot, and that’s why I expect us to be busy in the transfer market

Be prepared to be disappointed then
