It's not a long list is it. For a city the size of Nottingham their heritage is pitiful.

Born in Loxley but lived in Barnsdale where the airport is after he had his Loxley land (top of Rodney hill) nicked off him by the Sheriff of Nottingham. This victory is for you Robin!!!!!!

There really should be more made of this tbh. Loxley would be a great place for a visitor centre. Instead the only link is a fkin Gin.

Strange isn't it, he has his land stolen and history remembers him as the thief...

For Robin of Loxley!

They are famous for the Sheriff of Nottingham then really?

it's more than a possibility that barnsdale forest nigh on joined with sherwood forest it the time.

thus the norman law would be centralised in Nottingham, whilst the outlying areas ran amok, robin up the A1 at barnsdale being one of them.

in this area there is 'robin hood's well' and I understand 'robin hood's stream' at pickburn.

whilst a grave upon private land in kirklees bears a gravestone which states it is that of 'Robert earl of Huntingtun', 'an pipl kauld im robin heud'.

would YOU want to live in Nottingham?

Actually I lived in the north side of Nottingham, not far from Newstead Abbey, the home of Lord Byron,  for over 20 years and it was a wonderful place to live.

Sure, Nottingham has it's less salubrious areas, but so do most large cities, not least the fair city of Sheffield!

But yes, - we did give Forest a hell of a beating!
