Exchange of words between Fletch and their keeper

Recommended Posts

Apologies if this has already been covered but what was the cause of Fletch giving it the big one in their keepers face after he put the pen away?

Keeper did some gamesmanship prior to the penalty being taken, trying to put Fletcher off. Kept telling him "you're going to miss" before the pen was taken... keeper even said "don't miss" or similar as Fletch planted his standing foot to strike said penalty.

Fletch rightly telling him where to stick it after scoring... don't think ref was impressed by the lack of sportsmanship on display either.

Keeper was in Fletcher’s ear in build up to pen. You can hear the keeper shout ‘you’re going to miss’ on the highlights just as he was about to take it.

Think that’s why he reacted the way he did.

Would've been typical of our luck yet at the same time hilarious if Fletch had mistimed it and got sent off for nutting the keeper in the face

Ref wern't too bothered about Fletch getting in the keepers face, he didnt book him, but did book the keeper, which is nice, considering every other ref would have booked Fessi.

Too many times when bad tackles go in, our players never react

What would the point of the reaction be?

When players all go steaming in referees tend to start brandishing cards

We are geneally soft though. Take Cardiff's clearly offside goal the other week, the players should have been surrounding the ref and linesman to get them to at least discuss it, but other than a half hearted protest from Dawson there was nothing.

Compare that to when we scored against Rotherham a few years ago. Linesman gave the goal, ref gave the goal, but the Rotherham players surrounded the linesman protesting until he relented and disallowed it for offside. Ironically it was actually onside and we lost 1-0. We need to do more shithousery sometimes, others do it against us often enough.

About time we did a bit more of this sort of poo shithousery. We're too soft.

No. It ended with

Ref: <books keeper> "You're the €unt"

case closed.

Funny word that 'brandishing'. There are a good few things you can brandish, but I wouldn't have thought a card was one of them.
