Exactly, no time wasting, think Fessi even went to collect the ball from the net so we could get going again and maybe try win it. No need for Owlstalk to start any more drama between players.

Fessi came on, worked his socks off, which is more than can be said of a lot of others last night. Let's rate him on performances, and get him into the starting line-up. He's always been emotional, being sidelined for so long, and for strange reasons lately, when the team is screaming for a bit of creative flair, well, let's give him play time and see if he comes alive again.

Reach surely can take a break for a few matches.

He "takes a break" for 70% of most matches doesn't he!

He didn't, it took him about a minute longer than any other player to get back in his own half

This is more like it.

Also the crowd sing his name and within a few minutes the management is getting him ready.

The game last night was crying out for a Forestieri.

Was obvious from the very start...like before the game kicked off...that FF should have been starting

We’ll miss him when he goes. Enjoy him while you can I say.

We aren’t going up this season, don’t get too wound up about it. So when FF steps onto the pitch, admire his talent and what he can do with the ball. He was a joy when he came on. We won’t see a talent like him at Hillsborough for some time.

Fernando Forestieri isn't working hard enough for a place in Owls first team, says Barry Bannan

Barry Bannan has warned Sheffield Wednesday fan favourite Fernando Forestieri that he needs to work harder if he is to secure a spot in the club’s starting eleven.

The Argentina-born forward has yet to make a start under Garry Monk having sat out his first six matches through suspension, but made a notable impact as a substitute in their disappointing 1-1 midweek draw with Birmingham.

Wednesday supporters have called for Forestieri to be given a recall as a raft of missed chances extended their winless run to five games.

But Bannan, who has played in the same side as the forward since his arrival at Hillsborough in 2015, accused him of not working hard enough behind the scenes.

Hello, this is the first of your 5 free articles for this week

Asked whether he thinks Forestieri – who’s contract is up in the summer – deserves to play a bigger part in the Owls’ season, the Scot said:

“We train day-in, day-out and you've got to work hard in training to get into the team.

“It's up to Fernando. We know the quality that he's got, but if you're not working hard in training and not working hard on the pitch, you're not going to play.

“So he needs to brush up on that side of things.”

Forestieri, now 29, has scored one goal and recorded one assist so far in a season limited to cameo appearances from the bench.

And while Bannan has previously recognised the trickster as ‘the best player at the club on his day’, he was clear that the time is now for him to put the effort in and contribute to turning around a run of five matches without a win.

“He's coming back from some time out,” the Owls vice-captain said, “so he's needed time here and there to get up to full fitness, but I'm sure Fernando can play a big part this season.

“We all know how good a player he is, it's just about getting that other side and getting him working hard for the team. Then, no doubt, he'll be one of the first names on the team sheet.”

Professionalism! Doesn't impact, flair, ability and skill, but lack of it impacts work rate, attitude and application.

At his age, on his wages he needs to find some.

He's a 29 year old man child.

I said this in the other FF thread and got downvoted for my trouble.

Can anyone tell me why highly paid footballers are not expected to take any responsibility for their actions.

I know people want to see skill and flair on the pitch but if any of us acted the way he does in our own workplaces we'd be disciplined, sacked or at best overlooked for pay rises and promotion.

We are spaffing our hard earned cash to stroke his ego.

None of you lot who employ staff would let them get away with this in your gaff. He's not an 18 year old kid.

If he hasn't worked out what integrity and work ethic is by now he never will.

I agree, when dirty linen like this gets aired in public it is never beneficial to finding a solution.

Agreed, but it must be frustrating for players who are busting a gut in training to hear fans who are unaware of the situation singing for him to come on.

This goes one of two ways and shows the real character of a man.

FF either tries to prove his detractors wrong and works his arse off to become a model professional...

Or

He throws his toys and spits the dummy again.

If the latter, so long Fessi, you could have been an SWFC great.
