Willie Henderson

Recommended Posts

I spoke to him today - he has agreed to an interview for my upcoming book on the Owls 73-76.

A thoroughly good man. Inspirational what he has achieved in memory of his daughter. I'm going to donate a few quid as a thank you as well.

He said his spell at Hillsborough was a 'special time' and loved how the fans took to him.

In a very average team, he was a real superstar.  Wingers like him are few and far between.  Genuinely used to leave full backs on their backsides.  The stick he used to get from defenders was beyond belief.  The modern day prima donnas would be out for months.

Remember one game, against Sunderland I think, where he was carried off.  Came back on 10 minutes later and scored the winner.

It was worth the entry money just to watch him.

Great memories.
