Anyone that would vote Tory after the last nine years doesn't deserve to support Sheffield Wednesday.

What exactly has happened in the last 9

years that’s that bad? I’ve not seen any difference in any of the public services I use, this austerity business is just a soundbite.. keep those taxes low is the way forward. Much prefer keeping my money than handing it over to the lazy folk

Although the thought of having a terrorist sympathiser in number 10 is a scary one, I’m starting to think I’ll never see us in the top flight again so for me it’s Wednesday winning the league.... just.

Is that Johnson you're referring to? He's the one photographed most recently with former members of the IRA. If you think it's Corbyn, then you're one dumb maddafacka.

I think SAG would be all over the IRA, would be an immediate ban on Irish accents and the sale of petrol in Sheffield on match days.

B**ger I’d have nowhere left to go, being a Unionist, Tory-supporting Brexiteer from Northern Ireland  (an unfortunate choice of emoji too...)

Anyone around here that can ask 'what exactly has happened in the last 9 years that's bad?' is clearly walking around with their head stuck up their arse. There was a time when Sheffielders would bleed themselves dry rather than vote Tory or God forbid Farage. When people don't want to pay taxes you end up with no funds for essential services and we have a fifth of Corporations in this country paying no Corporation tax whatsoever, it's a joke. Is it a good thing that the NHS has sold off our Blood Transfusion, gathering, storage to the Americans who have since sold it to the Chinese? Is it a good thing that Branson is able to sue the NHS for £840k because he didn't get the contract he bid for? Is it a good thing that the Germans own 34% of what was British Rail and we own just 1%.

Just like Brexit we have a large number of clueless losers who haven't a clue what they're voting for. We'll end up with a Johnson government, corrupt af and supported by the Nazi Farage. It's all downhill from here.

Another fully paid up member of the Cult of Corbyn I see, either answer the OP’s question or jog along to the politics section my gullible friend.

Let’s not forget, in the UK the richest 1% pay 28% of UK tax revenue. If you increase that burden they’ll just leave.

Socialism is wonderful, until you run out of other people’s money.

Do you have a link to the UKs tax revenue? Can't find one online

Hmmm don’t think HMRC post individual tax returns online, but perhaps the links below might help...

I was being a little bit sarcastic in my first post.. but I do in general support low taxes for working people, something Labour don’t understand.

As Hillsborough has posted, the share of income tax paid by the highest earners is the highest it’s ever been. But you need some incentive to motivate people to work, or to progress in their careers otherwise productivity will stagnate and that means lower growth, which means lower public spending etc.

I think inequality is far too high.. but the debate around income tax is the wrong one to have. People need to focus on what’s going on with financial assets.. massive bubble at the moment fuelled by low interest rates. Plus there are no wealth taxes and capital gains tax is much lower than income taxes. Hitting working people, even if they’re comparably well off, is such a bad idea as it kills aspiration. Need to find a way to tax the ultra wealthy, who own most of the overvalued financial assets and pay hardly any tax at all on them

And I think that's the difference between a Tory voter and a labour voter.

One gets on and challenges themselves to get their own  pay rise.

The other sits on their ar5e moaning and whining waiting for the government to force their employer to give them a payrise

What ever the system you are gonna get the stronger getting one over the weaker but for the cohesion of society the stronger should be strong enough to carry the weak on their shoulders.  Or are you prepared for multitudes more homeless etc?

I’m the world’s biggest capitalist, but where it has failed in the UK is our obsession and treatment of property as an investment. Many of the wealthy just buy property to develop and let out. This adds absolutely nothing to the economy, but creates a “rent trap” and housing problems. If that wealth was used as capital investment etc to boost productivity, then natural profits would increase, wages would increase, tax revenue would increase, fewer people on benefits (through choice or not) all creating a feedback loop.

Our obsession with property is this country’s biggest weakness.
