ashley8 Posted November 11, 2019 Share Posted November 11, 2019 Ground does need modernization with out doubt probably an a huge scale. That's nothing to do with atmosphere. Hillsborough back when I first started going in 1990 was songs sang from start to finish non stop. Only time it was quite was when it was a game where the manager you could tell was about to be sacked because he'd lost the team. So it's down to us and the team to play a style that exited us not depresses us. Over the years Hillsborough has got quieter and quieter. Needs promotion desperately. Bring back standing areas and the singers would gravitate towards that and create a good atmosphere again. Not a chance in hell that it'll happen though, FFS. Elland Road and Loftus Road are the only two I can think of. Every other ground in the top two leagues has either been redeveloped or built from new in the last 25 years. If Chansiri does put any more money into the club I’d rather he put it into the ground than players. We wasted money in the 90s on the likes of Hinchcliffe, Jonk and de Bilde instead of developing the ground and then we’ve done it again on Rhodes, Abdi, van Aken, Jones and Boyd. But the reality is unless we get promoted, nothing will happen. Do a similar version of Blackburns Darwen end with the indoor steel door in lower concourse enter over the bridge or side of leppings lane ..no need to close vere road etc just block the road at the bridge for specific time in and time out escort them in and out .. It's not difficult with a bit of give n take Maximum of 2000 away fans for all clubs .. Then ring Nick Knowles n his chums to give the West a reyt good seeing to to merge in with the Canterlever .. Where police box is build a 2 story set up to include police on one floor TV on another ... That helps segregate home n away in that corner ... I've been attending for more than 5 decades, when the kop had no roof, the sound went up and out, it was appallingly quiet and a sh*t atmosphere in comparison to wednesday away. then following the introduction of seating (it seems) many left the kop for other stands, a good few to the n/w where they can come into contact with opposition fans for ongoing banter 'TRACK SUIT FROM MATALAN' etc. it must come as a huge surprise for away fans visiting hillsborough for the first time (with no prior knowledge of 'the library') to find the swfc vocal support they'll have heard many times in their home games v. wednesday doesn't exist at s6. what can the club do? firstly, i'd install sound deadening insulation in the roof of the leppings lane stand. secondly, i'd look into the installation of sound amplification (not electrically amplified, more of the type in the roof of the sydney opera house). thirdly, whilst the club is having trouble with the 'pigs fans' trying to shut the north stand down, i'd look at the introduction of a 'singing area' being allotted in the kop. I imagine with a slight reduction in pricing over the north, along with the knowledge of 'enhanced acoustics' it would seem, attractive to many in the n/w perhaps, and be a kick in the 'testis' for the pigs/pigs. Visitors in the Leppings Lane half of the South stand and make them exit over bridge. Our fans to exit via Leppings Lane and Penistone Road. Barriers up to stop our fans going over the bridge. The advantage is we could continue to charge high prices for South so away fans help to pay for policing, stewarding. Chansiri could lower prices for West stand and Kop so our poorer fans can afford POTG. Would improve atmosphere for TV. Our problem is we have 23,000 fans and almost 40,000 seats. But we need that capacity if we eventually get back to the top division, which historically is where we feel we belong. Whats the point moving? We could build an atmospheric 28,000 seater which would look good in the 2nd tier but nowhere big enough in the top tier. Of course we could be stuck in the 2nd tier for the next 20 years...... nobody knows. But if the likes of Hull Bradord, Boro, United and Huddersfield can manage the top division(they've all done it after 2000) I suspect our time will eventually come.
