Pointless should’ve stood his ground there was a fair chance he wasn’t gonna control that ball in time to get a decent effort away , and 100% chance he was gonna fall like a sack of spuds as soon as he saw Westwood’s head fall off and come sprinting out like Bambi Westwood had to come out to make up for Palmer’s awful decision to stop playing. zero choice and small chance of beating the player to the ball

peacock1961
Let's get a grip, wba are top of the league, their last five home games have seen two goals conceded. Today we scored one and it was a penalty. Our problems are with our creative midfield and strikers not palmer and Westwood.
mogbad
As I've said in the Westwood thread if Palmer does his job & clears the ball then there isn't an issue but a keeper shouldn't be charging that far off his line unless he knows he's getting the ball. Agreed, never said Palmer wasn’t to blame , but it’s a team game innit ... theres 3 people gone to sleep for there and Palmer seems to be only one getting blame
swfc-dan
Wierd thing about Oddjob was he was improving and then soon as Palmer was fit he takes his place. Time for a swap to bring him back! No worse defensively and is quicker and better going forward. Monk has shown he's not afraid to drop Reach so I think he surely will here too. KivoOwl
Odubajo, Palmer, Fox - only three full-backs we've got and none anywhere near good enough for top six.

He's to blame not Westwood

According to some posters they all must be clueless. What choice have they had? He only gets games because our recruitment has been terrible overall, plus we flogged Hunt without being able to replace him adequately. Just because he's a Wednesdayite doesn't make him above criticism.
oldishowl
Obviously the defence let the guy get free but Westwood’s approach to it was stupid for such an experienced keeper. In that situation the keeper comes out to make the guy play the ball without giving him the chance to go down. If Westwood had come 2 yds short of where he did the guy would still have played the ball into the same area, wide of goal giving defenders time to get back

mattitheowl
Palmer's an easy target for our fans. It baffles me when you consider how he's developed over the years. He's gone from being a sun in a league 1 team to being a pretty regular first choice in a top half Championship team (under numerous managers). Is he perfect, no far from it. But when we had Jack Hunt all our fans did was slag him off and say we should play Palmer. He does make awful mistakes and to my mind it's purely a concentration thing. But that's why he's playing in a mid table Championship team. Westwood has now made more mistakes than Palmer this season. Just not bothered... oldishowl
I think Palmer was shattered last 20 mins. He was certainly struggling and tiredness played a part in the goal. He will get a rest now

Goalkeepers and defenders will always make mistakes, you see it in every game, unfortunately some more than others. The other end of the field is our major problem, as you quite rightly say. Funnily enough all our managers attend games on a regular basis and they keep picking him. You really deal in extremes dont you?
