spiderman Posted October 24, 2019 Share Posted October 24, 2019 I think we need a striker who is going to put away 20+ goals for us this season if we are going to make a proper push at going up or making the play off.Look at Norwich last season they had Pukki who shot them to the premier league, is there anyone out there who you think we could seriously go and get and do a proper jog for us, seeing as now we are putting the balls into the right place. Does a great job winning his flick ons and linking play up, but he's nearly 33 now? Big ask to expect him to keep up these levels of performance with how grueling the Championship is. For me, you get some more legs around him. A wide forward type (very much the in thing these days) and encourage the likes of Luongo and Bannan to support Fletch when we are playing the ball up to him. Otherwise, his hard work is wasted. Having a prolific scorer is no guarantee of anything (ask Blackburn in the Jordan Rhodes years) and in fact many teams are promoted without one. Indeed, we nearly did it twice under Carvalhal with a modest number as our leading scorer. With our current set up, Fletcher is more than doing his bit. So basically, we just need to find a striker who's not had a prolific scoring career who we can therefore get on the cheap but is guaranteed to come good and score 29 goals next season like Pukki did. Tbf, Luonogo seems to be stepping up in that regard, but Bannan, Reach and Harris have to be doing more. We also need a few more from Big Dom and Borner. He's the best (only?) option we have for this system and will likely remain so until at least next summer. Even then, such a player would not be easy to find because everyone wants one.
