Slow Starters

Recommended Posts

We've seen plenty of debate regarding style of performance, level of opponent and general standard of this league. To put things into perspective, we have very rarely had a better points haul at this stage in the last 30 seasons.

Thinking back through the seasons, I've had a look at our more "successful" ones and...(correct me if I'm wrong)

1990/91 after 13 games: 28 points

2011/12 after 13 games: 26 points

Therefore, our 3rd best start to a season (up to press) in 30 years.

There’s 4 points that seperate the top 9, 3 that seperate the top 5, and 3 points seperate 2nd to 10th.

Everyone seems to be having a decent start, by our own poor standards.

Is this one of the threads you look back on after we lose on Saturday and are sitting in 9th, thinking urgh!

How many points did we have 91-92 at this stage?

Every chance, tbh.

Charlton were 3rd last night, and then in the 98th minute they dropped down to 10th.

Mad league.

That was in the top division. Assuming he meant 90-91, after 13 games we had 28 points (we had 28 points after 12 games but lost the 13th game at Millwall after being 2 up at HT and also lost Nilsson to an injury which would keep him out for the next 6 months)

If we don't fall off a cliff from now until January we have a real chance.

Hopefully somehow we can ditch Rhodes and Winnall and bring in 2 more players suited to us (a bit of pace upfront)

Monk really doesn't seem keen on Rhodes, does he?

Whether or not he can move him on in January could dictate our season, in a roundabout way. Let's just hope we're still in with a shout by then. A lot is resting on Fletcher's shoulders over the next two and a half months.

Agreed.. apart from Winnall..he can't be on big money and he pops up with goals..

The league will settle down in the next 4/5 games when teams at the top end start playing each other.

If we are there or there about’s after this we have a real chance.

Strengthen the front line in January and we are notorious for having a good second half to the season either in a relegation or promotion battle and pick up quite a lot of points.

The main worry for me is if the league see fit to deduct points for the stadium sale/ffp etc.... like Birmingham had last year.
