Really tough today. Fletcher was a monster, one spell in the 2nd half, he repelled 3 attacks in a row. 2 corners and a free kick.

Iorfa was a giant. Reach did ok, scored and assisted...Nuhiu had a great game.

Fletcher, just, for me.

Iorfa was immense. Won everything. Aided superbly by Borner.  Lees place really under threat now.

Nuhiu.

Easy decision that.

Made everything click.

The change to 442 also had a big effect.

Big Dom 1st half.

Fletch 2nd

Got to go with Big Dom.

Westwood: 7 (No chance with the goal, most of rest was routine, Assombalonga should have beaten him twice)

Obubajo: 7 (couple of poor crosses but good energetic support)

Iorfa: 9 MoM (a goal, won everything in air and diffused a couple of tricky situations)

Borner: 8 (Solid and won everything in the first half, exposed a bit in the second)

Palmer: 7 (decent battling performance)

Reach: 9 (Hard running, very well taken goal and perfect cross, much better from him)

Bannan: 9 (Two assists, lots of neat touches and worked hard off the ball - a little overrun in the second?)

Hutchinson: 6 (They had tactic of pressing him hard and he almost played their strikers in twice)

Harris: 7 (Quietest game so far, but still had threatening moments)

Nuhiu: 8 (An assist, cause problems and held ball up well, although his flick-ons usually went straight out)

Fletcher: 9 (Brilliant performance, textbook Fletcher goal, won everything in air and plenty of clearances in second half. One scuffed clearance in first half for Boro goal)

Subs:

Luongo: 6 (Couple of silky touches, but generally the midfield struggled second half)

Winnall: 6 (Had one decent shot)

Fox: - (Only on for a couple of minutes)

Couldn't argue with those already mentioned but I went with Bannon. Thought he was on top of his game for the full 90 and it's the best our midfield has looked this season.

Wwood 7

Moses 7 solid enough
Iorfa 8 mom, never game them a hope,  perfect cb display including goal, he'd probably cause havoc as a striker so could push him upfront if losing! Lees surely can't walk back in unless he's a favourite like hutch.
Borner 7 solid enough, 8 if not lost assomabolonga twice who luckily missed 2 sitters
Palmer 6 ok but never overlaps as no left foot

Reach 8 goal and assist so could be mom, prefer on left but much better today
Hutch 6 ok again but too often waste of a sub
Bannan 8 ran cm, good assists
Harris 6 quieter vs a good rb , would have brought off 10min earlier to rest for murphy

Nuhiu 7 like fletch dipped when they brought ayala on who can jump
Fletch 7 faded 2nd half, good goal

Luongo 7 better on ball than hutch, played moses thru superbly but gets stuck in same, should start him but hutch seems a favourite

Dont like 2 slow strikers together but worked well 1st half as their cb's woeful in air.

Poor boro side but a pro away display.
Will need more pace upfront against decent sides whether winnall alongside fletch or murphy as no10 imo

Iorfa is growing into his role and the perfect tutor for him is Borner...calm, intelligent and a really good Championship footballer...I don't want to see Lees pushed back in...make them all fight for places.

Good ratings, agree with most.

Thought Iorfa could become our new Reda and he has already. Shame he doesn't have a name we can sign the "Reda!" chant to!

Westwood - 7 - Little chance to prevent the goal, fairly helpless for Assombolonga's two sitters, and other than a couple of regulation long range efforts to save, a comfortable afternoon.

Odubajo - 7 - On the whole, a really good performance. Was a threat going forward, provided great support for Reach, and unfortunate not to score. Couple of occasions, he went missing positionally though...one which brought about Bannan's booking.

Iorfa - 8 - Another fine performance. Can we put any doubts that he's not a centre half to one side? Three consecutive commanding, classy centre half displays in the league. Took his goal well, but he was aerially flawless throughout. Won a number of ground duals also.

Borner - 7 - Another solid display. A bit sloppy for Assombolonga's 2nd oppotunity, but he's forming an imperious partnership with Iorfa.

Palmer - 7 - A fine athletic full back display. Rarely looked troubled.

Hutchinson - 7 - Did well and stuck to his task well early on.

Bannan - 9 - Man of the Match - An almost flawless display. The best I've seen him have in a Wednesday shirt. Two assists, but that doesn't tell the story. Simply ran the game with sumptuous ease. Linked the play through the thirds fantastically, set us on the counter time after time. It was a midfield masterclass.

Reach - 8 - I've been critical of him of late...but he was superb today. Took his goal brilliantly, and a sublime assist for Fletcher's goal. Not sure what Boro were doing in the 1st half, but the amount of space he was afforded was criminal.

Harris - 7 - Probably one of his quieter days, ironically, in one of our most efficient performances. Still a threat, but much of our joy today came down our right hand flank through Reach and Odubajo.

Nuhiu - 8 - Brilliant performance. Caused Boro's backline a number of issues. When he dropped deep he created space for Fletcher and other runners, and linked up the play brilliantly. Watched a stream with Boro commentary, and they couldn't praise the Big Man enough. We really do under appreciate what we've got.

Fletcher - 8 - A dominant, physical display, with Nuhiu playing superbly off him. They don't posses much pace between them, but they are both very clever players, and Shotton and Fry had no answer to them. Brilliant header for his goal, and he'll be disappointed not to have got a second with the chance in the 2nd half.

Luongo - 7 - Energetic, bullish display, and it allowed Bannan to thrive. Could have used the better at times, but I'd have no issues with him coming in and replacing Hutchinson.

Winnall - 6 - Looked a threat when he came on, but his touch on occasions let things get away from him.

Fox - N/A

Overall...

A really efficient, and clinical away performance. They obviously had a deliberate plan, opting to go with the two big men, and the players carried that plan out meticulously. Our final ball was terrific today, and we rarely allowed Boro time to ever really play themselves into the game (perhaps the sloppy 5 minutes in the 2nd half aside).

I was critical of Monk on Tuesday, but you can only praise the team selection today and how the game plan was executed. Most fans would've questioned the chosen front two, with both players deemed too similar, but their intelligence and link up made them almost unplayable at times. If Monk can get a midfield two functioning as well as it did today, on a regular basis, then it'll give us so many more tactical options going forward.

I actually thought, at the time, that we were very clever with our fouls today.

Made a number of tactical fouls, broke the game up before Boro got the chance to get into dangerous areas.

Wasn't until the last 10 minutes or so, we started to make a couple of rash challenges.

It's about time we started doing what everybody else seems to excel in.

Went Reach. Could have picked a few. Iorfa was brilliant at CB today, been very critical especially after midweek but today was fantastic today

A tough crowd to please on here, not me though...

The performance and tactics were worlds appart from Tuesday night. Monk obviously sees Nuhiu, Fletcher and Iorfa are unplayable at attacking set pieces. (Maybe HE has been on the phone to the Monk?) Long may this tactic continue...

Monk finally has his contract after Chris Turner brought him to Wednesday 16 years ago, and 16 years later, Chris Turner has finally been vindicated that you can win the match in the first twenty minutes, and then play football. (Why wait for Nuhiu to come on for the last twenty minutes?)

The look on Monk's face as he came over to acknowledge the fans at full time was like a kid at Christmas time. Priceless. It must have been especially satisfying after the abuse he got from a small group of boro fans after he got off the coach before the game.

Very tidy and organised performance in midfield though. Great link up play from Nuhiu and Fletcher. Crossing threats from both wings. I'd say Kadeem looked quiet as he was playing as part of a unit, but you could see the workrate was still there, only today he wasn't the only attacking threat. We played like a Team, if you will. Miles appart from the 11 individual performances on Tuesday night

Gary Monk 10/10

Coaching staff before the game, which included a quick short passing drill with the whole team and later included Bullen's defensive warm up with the back four 10/10

The Team

Westwood: 10/10

Obubajo: 10/10

Iorfa: 10/10

Borner: 10/10 (Plays for Wednesday, hates United, his foot is fecking MASSIVE)

Palmer: 10/10

Reach: 10/10 (The Local Hero - I don't think they like that song round there)

Bannan: 10/10 MoM only because he was today's captain of the ship (HMS P155 the League)

Hutchinson: 10/10

Harris: 10/10

Nuhiu: 10/10

Fletcher: 10/10

Subs: 10/10

Luongo: 10/10

Winnall: 10/10

Fox: Enjoyed a brief stroll around the pitch shortly before full time.
