Some bits are right.. we beat Man City 2-0, hirst scored and then went in goal.. I’d doubt the 8 glasses of Champagne though...

I saw the footy part of it.

Really exciting player.

Wish we’d kept him and Dalian as a partnership

Hirst told the story at a dinner I attended, he said the hotel they stayed in before the game had complimentary bucks fizz on breakfast table, the other players made their minds up not to drink it, DH didn't want to see it go to waste. Legend.

I was there and he played a blinder up front and in goal. 

 

It was a time when a lot of comparisons between Hirst and David Whyte..Hirst came out on top that day
