Popular Post Lord Snooty
Helping – I’m here to help these players. The way that I work is with clarity. If a player knows what you’re asking, if there’s no grey areas they respond. Monk Teams- Physicality, aggression, that mentality. Quality squads… doesn’t matter you have to apply those basics to every game, every session. I want front foot aggressive mentality. Tom Lees- Touch and go. Will train Saturday. He’s an important player, Captain of the club. I’ll have a chat with him tomorrow before making a decision. Fernando – It is what it is. Nothing I can do about it. In the mean time we’ll work with him, make sure he’s fit. Even fitter , there’s a programme in place to give him the highest possible level. Also an opportunity to work on things like strengthening and condition. I’m here to manager players in bad times as well as good. Players Response – Players have responded well. Sometimes you’re at a club you keep have to banging on and on but there lads pick things up quickly, you only have to tell them once or twice. The hardest bit will be doing what I’ve asked on the training pitch on the football pitch on matchday. Monk Passion - I would protect my team with my life. You try and keep a balanced life, but I used to be a centre half, and sometimes that comes out. I’m there in that moment. I want to win, I want to fight for my team. I’m there , if there’s a disrespect to me or my team, you deal with that! Young Players – Yes, I’m looking at them. That’s my job. I won’t put them in for the sake of it. I won’t do it for the PR side of it like some clubs do. I put them in when I think they can enhance themselves, when they are ready to not just come in but be ready to come in and have a career. I won’t stick players in for the sake of it and then they vanish. But yes, I’m having a look at them that’s my job. Danny Cowley - People say he's done it lower down. But Football is football, he's done it at another level. Knowledge is knowledge and I wish him all the best in his career, him and Nick. But not till after Sunday! Sticky belly
He’s certainly making the right noises and it’s great to hear. This part pleases me the most. Physicality, aggression, that mentality.Quality squads… doesn’t matter you have to apply those basics to every game, every session. I want front foot aggressive mentality That’s something we’ve been sadly lacking over the last few years and if he can address that then hopefully we can only get better. It’s the absolute basics of football, you cannot play your football if you can’t at least match the opposition physically. You have to earn the right to play in this division and Monk knows that. Guest The Horse
He's saying all the right things and no doubt he believes in himself. But he'll need time to get that through completely. A lot of players here with Stockholm Syndrome who will revert to negative / defensive play by default. Hopefully we'll see a bit of a change in the right direction in the short term but excited to see how he moulds the team over a full season and two or three transfer windows. Give him the time and I have a gut feeling he'll see us right.
Luke
Finally got a manager who won't take no sh!t from the players If you aren't playing the standards he requires then you won't get a lookin regardless how much your earn or overhyped by the fans

Hope you do it every week, so it becomes a Monk’s habit. 1

The thing I like is his manner. He speaks about games without any fear. Hopefully that rubs off on the boys and we get out there and give it the full fun.
shezzas left peg
I'll admit I wasn't struck on him at first, but been sat watching the press conferences and interviews today and he's really beginning to look like a quality appointment. Speaks well, seems to have a bit of a no nonsense approach with players, but at the same time someone who will definitely have their backs when needed as well. I was listening to the YouTube one with the guy that supports Ipswich (reminds me so much of Allan Rickman) and he made some great points. Especially about how he seems to get the best out of strikers, bony at Swansea, wood at Leeds, Adams at Birmingham, so fingers crossed he can work wonders with the misfiring trio of Nuhiu, Winnall and Rhodes.
