Gary Monk Hillsborough Debut - 14th Dec 2002

Recommended Posts

I've blotted this from my memory, but as a reminder to you all how long we've been in, and below,  this god awful division I found a picture of The Monk during his Hillsborough playing debut at Hillsborough. A 2-0 home defeat to Gillingham. 17k home attendance on a Saturday in December.

He partnered Tony Crane at CB and we had Kuqi and Sibon up front. (Remember Kuqi was one of the first to through his hat into the ring for the Managers job?)

Chris Turner was the newly appointed Manager and we were heading for relegation. The squad was in disarray and the main news was the Coop Bank. Things aren't great, but they've been far far worse. And Gary Monk has seen the abyss we've climbed out of.

Good Luck Gary Monk

Who was Green at right back? Completely expunged him from my memory.

I don't know, he couldn't have been that bad, or we'd remember him, but I do know Chris Turner had secured the services of Jon Beswetherwick by the end of the season...

I never realised Proudlock came in at same time as Monk either

I’ve forgotten more about Wednesday than I can actually remember

Which probably isn’t a bad thing
