CC was the best manager we have had since BFR. Would love to have his 1st season team here now, would RIP this years league.

Not with Carlos in charge. He'd bottle it at the last minute like he always seems too. He'd be a great manager for Derby.

What a bastad that man is

I mean fancy wishing a bloke good luck at a club he's fond of

Some men are just born evil

Stu Gray ain't twittering his good lucks.

It's just more shameless ingratiation from CC.

Always the sizzle, never any steak with that utter coat rack.

Although this thread is a complete over reaction to Carlos' tweet.

He put us in a dire financial position (after we had just got a good financial standing), didn't actually achieve anything and left us with an aging and unfit team which has lead to where we are now. Can't blame CC totally, DC let it happen.

Any manager who doesn't believe in fitness training without a ball in this league has no idea.

If we had someone of Bruce's ilk (and not a chancer like CC) at that time, with that money and positively around the club we would have been up.

Great opportunity and loads of cash wasted. May now hold us back for years to come. But yeah Carlos should be looked back upon very fondly.

The one thing I really disliked about him is the attitude to fitness.. surely it’s a prerequisite at this level.

A lot of what people blame him for isn’t his fault though. It’s clear that the plan was to really go for promotion but we fell short. Should we blame him for the signings that didn’t work out? Probably not because why would someone sign players and then not use them. Thinking Mcmanaman, buckby, emmanuelson, Abdi

as for leaving us with an ageing team, a lot of the signings were 26-29 and in their prime when they came here. Is it his fault we didn’t sell some on when we had the chance.. I think that’s more likely DC

’Didn’t actually achieve anything’... we overachieved getting to the play off final first year. Then we met expectations second year, but performed poorly against Huddersfield. We didn’t have a right to get promoted.. play offs are a lottery

The financial side is always the club’s fault and not the managers. Why allow the club to overspend.. particularly when we signed plenty of players who just weren’t involved. Would imagine it would have been easy to spend £5m less than we did without any impact at all on the team on the field. Not selling players is an issue.. as soon as you get someone wanting to leave, take the money on good offers like we had for FF.

I guess Chansiri realised he had 3 years to get up.. year 1 we nearly got there so he expected we’d get over the line in year 2 or 3. Remember the talk of being back for the 150th anniversary in 2017.. that was the plan and it didn’t happen

but in terms of what we saw on the field Carlos’ time was a success. Particularly when you contrast with what followed straight after in Jos

Play offs is a raving success to some on here

Losing at Wembley = a great day out

We've been losers for so long some dont know what it's like to be winners

Just to add a bit of perspective, we’ve only won the top league 4 times since 1867 and haven’t won a league (any league) since 1959.

In 91, with one of our greatest teams, we only managed to finished 3rd (in the second tier); luckily that meant promotion in those days.

Based on our history I’d say it’s an achievement for Wednesday just to compete at the right end of the table; not a raving success obviously.

So you’re right, Wednesday have rarely been winners (don’t know what it’s like to be winners); If being close is a total failure, than everyone since 1959 needs to be included, with exception of the League cup in 91 team. (Not counting a shitty season in League 1 and beating Hartlepool at Cardiff - that season we’re were awful IMO).

Fans of Wednesday could be forgiven for being more content with just competing at the right end, rather than the normal struggle.

No, I don't think so.

I believe that he is a part owner of a sports clothing company called 'Lacatoni' (Portugese company?)

IIRC they made some training gear for the Owls whilst DC was still looking for a company to

manufacture our gear.

Thanks! I remember him having some other business involvement somewhere along the line, just couldn't remember what!

Don't really understand this.

It was always my understanding that we massively over achieved that season, reached Wembley totally unexpectedly, probably before we were ready and playing a team that arguably were stronger in every area of the pitch. We lost to a single worldy goal & somehow it is the guy who made us over achieve ie Carlos who is to blame.

I absolutely do not understand the hatred towards Carlos, I really don't.

He was like a breath of fresh air after everything we had gone through, gave us the best couple of seasons we'd had since the early 90s and fine, it didn't quite pan out. We also had more media attention than we had seen in living memory.

Why we can't just accept that he did what he did, it didn't quite pan out & move on without the undeserved vitriol is beyond me.

There is no written rule that everyone has to be either a total Saint or a total Sinner, although that binary thinking seems to be the norm on here.

Carlos made mistakes, like all managers, but he did an awful lot right as well. FFS stop painting him in a totally negative light.

He wishes us well & gets this Sh*t back!!!

I think with Carlos a lot of fans couldn’t get over how we lost united

This seemed to be the final straw; seemed like Jos got lots of credit for parking the bus twice against them.

Strange. Surely the club needs to look at all the fixtures across the season and not just 2; and we say they are obsessed.

Unfortunately, typical Owlstalk.

With regard to hs first season, we certainly did reach Wembley. I, personally, did not think we wereanywhere near Premiership class, and this was proved at W3mbley, when, let's be honest, pour players simply 'did not turn up' in footballing terms.

The following season, we got to within sight of Wembley, then the PLAYERS lost, on their own ground, in a penalty shoot-out,at which one of our 'stars'refusedto take a penalty!

Carlos got more out of a mediocrebunch of players than anyone I can remember.
