Got some right self entitled planks as fans us. Gary Monk is about as solid of an appointment as we could expect. Young, decent win percentage and got bags of championship experience. Leeds and Birmingham fans seem to rate him too and it seems he likes to play attractive football.

Let’s look at the two most popular candidates:

1/ Chris Hughton: I know as fact that he was never even approached for the job. This is from a director of football who works in the championship currently who knows Chris Hughton well.

2/ The Cowley's: Would have been a gamble. They have done well at Lincoln and seem to be a fashionable choice. People compare them to Wilder but he did it at multiple clubs over a good few years so the comparison doesn’t really work.

Completely agree mate.

So having an affinity with the club and preferring to stay somewhere it obvious he enjoys working is a bad thing?? . Being a first team coach at swfc is 'shocking lack of ambition'!!???. He said he'd love managers job here, so thats not ambitious enough for you???. He has 'seen and learnt from a variety of sources', all the managers he's played and coached under, and now he's bringing that experience and knowledge to a club he clearly feels strongly about. He's a coach, not the manager how has he 'gone stale', his day job is to run drills and training that the manager dictates!!!. He knows the club and the squad inside out, for me thats invaluable info to pass on to Monk to help him get up to speed asap

Invaluable info???? I'd rather Monk and his crew make their own determinations.

So instead of getting first hand knowledge 6 games into the season, you feel its preferable to have Monk come in knowing very little and have to work it all out from scratch!!!???, you expect him to find his own office and lav's as wel!!!??

Oh and currently Bullen IS Monk's only crew!!!

People talk like a professional football manager who has managed at this level for a good few seasons wouldn't be able to figure out the strengths and weaknesses of our squad pretty damn quickly.

If it was that hard to do, we would be unbeatable as no bugger would know what to expect when we rock up.

By that logic, we would be the opposition for the other team, and thus they would be just as unfathomable & unbeatable!, so draws all round then!!

That's my point. Having someone who "knows the squad" etc isn't a necessity, as any half-decent manager will assess and learn the players, and their strengths, pretty quickly.

To outsiders it signalled the obvious end of his career. The dealings with that agent have led to disputes with both of his latest clubs. The sacking from Birmingham and the legal investigations by Middlesbrough. Chansiri will probably make him head of recruitment with Paxao.

We’ve got the best championship experiences manager out there who is out of work and wants to be here.

I don’t get the whole anti Monk stance already and this absolutely sums up our negative fanbase in one rather than give the bloke a fair shot.

When he’s come to Hillsborough with his teams I’ve been impressed and his name has been banded round on here before prior to Bruce, now just because the Cowleys aren’t here he’s suddenly a bad gaffer and the rest of the excuses. He will quickly sound us out and has a track record of getting the best out of a team.

Only Wednesdayites could be disappointed we’ve signed a solid Championship manager and not an inexperienced manager who’s never managed at this level, ever.

Ridiculous

I get the feeling that the fans were hoping for a manager who could come in and enthuse the fanbase, raise the moral.  Whilst he has decent track record he's no messiah.  Such as Atkinson, Charlton or dare I say it Carlos.

Time will tell if he's successful, get a few quick wins under his belt and the fans will have more belief in him get off to a bad start then he will have an uphill battle convincing them he's the man for the job.

We are in such a dreamland though

Bruce was the best appointment we’ve made in 20 odd years, it’s few and far between

Every new gaffer should be worshipped by us until they do wrong, just get behind the bloody team everybody
