Player on the left wing is the one that received the ball, he’s miles on.

You're right, it just seems unfair that the goal scorer had a few yards start on our defence who had no chance of catching him......(and we are obviously biased) and it's a sh*t rule when it works against u!

Yet when he received the cross he was behind the winger who had started a yard further back than our defenders. If their winger could make up that ground, why couldn't our defenders?

Because the winger put the cross in straight away, so they didn't have time?

How did that second goal stand? Guessing the winger must’ve been just on and then he’s deemed to be back on-side for the goal.

Although when a forward is that far offside and the attention of the defence turns toward him how can he not be influencing play?

A prime candidate for VAR that one. As was our pen.

Quote from the Late, Great Bill Shankly.

"If he isn't interfering with play, WTF is he doing on the pitch?".

I'd be tempted to say that as the balls fired over the top their striker does make a movement towards the ball then he sees the winger and his hands go up. That initial movent is enough for me but never going to disallowed.

This - flag should have gone up as soon as the striker, who is offside, runs towards the ball

Yeah but surely as the striker is interfering with play and has a few yards on our defenders means they disallow it?

In in that case Hugill may as well have just hung next to Westwood all game

Yes, you can hang offside as much as you like but nobody can pass to you until you're back onside.

That's why some players deliberately stand offside at freekicks. Nobody can mark them. But they can't receive the ball directly. The benefit comes from picking up the second ball, having not been marked.

I don't think you have grasped the concept of a message board have you ?

So in your world you cannot have an opinion about things unless you have seen them with your own eyes .

I am surprised you have even got Tinternet .

You are a very strange human being

Going on about a football match you haven’t seen, yes that’s a bit perverse in my opinion

What do you think when you here on a radio programme - next caller Abdul from London who wants to talk about the Liverpool game, but hasn’t seen it.

You’re Abdul

Just on those highlights

2 things

Tom Lees plays we get something

Playing that system requires 2 wide midfielders to tuck in or else we turn into a 4 2 4 and leave the 2 central midfielders exposed, which is what happened and our defence overrun

also giving the fullback s license to bomb forward is suicide

very Carlos esque

What part of " Just on those highlights " dont you understand ?

On your reasoning any football pundit who is not at the actual game is not allowed a opinion .

Now go and count your old football programs or something .

Thanks for that. I often wondered why forwards start deliberately offside at set pieces.

Because Palmer stopped.

The old adage of play to the whistle means the probably blocks the cross, or at least prevents the easy, simple ball across the box.

Awful defending all round

Perfect illustration right there

Reach and Harris totally out of the action leaving us exposed in midfield and defence

Not sure what Borner is doing
