You're right, it just seems unfair that the goal scorer had a few yards start on our defence who had no chance of catching him......(and we are obviously biased) and it's a sh*t rule when it works against u! agentwalker
I'd be tempted to say that as the balls fired over the top their striker does make a movement towards the ball then he sees the winger and his hands go up. That initial movent is enough for me but never going to disallowed.

Yet when he received the cross he was behind the winger who had started a yard further back than our defenders. If their winger could make up that ground, why couldn't our defenders? Guessing the winger must’ve been just on and then he’s deemed to be back on-side for the goal. Although when a forward is that far offside and the attention of the defence turns toward him how can he not be influencing play? A prime candidate for VAR that one. As was our pen. Quote from the Late, Great Bill Shankly. "If he isn't interfering with play, WTF is he doing on the pitch?".

Yeah but surely as the striker is interfering with play and has a few yards on our defenders means they disallow it? In in that case Hugill may as well have just hung next to Westwood all game

He has to either touch the ball or affect a defender's ability to play the ball

That's why some players deliberately stand offside at freekicks. Nobody can mark them. But they can't receive the ball directly. The benefit comes from picking up the second ball, having not been marked.

So in your world you cannot have an opinion about things unless you have seen them with your own eyes . I am surprised you have even got Tinternet . You are a very strange human being Going on about a football match you haven’t seen, yes that’s a bit perverse in my opinion What do you think when you here on a radio programme - next caller Abdul from London who wants to talk about the Liverpool game, but hasn’t seen it. On your reasoning any football pundit who is not at the actual game is not allowed a opinion . Now go and count your old football programs or something . Because Palmer stopped. The old adage of play to the whistle means the probably blocks the cross, or at least prevents the easy, simple ball across the box. Bluesteel
Nuhiu isn’t the most agile and it’s a ridiculously tight angle. He’d have done well to score it.

keepitsteel89
The linesman in dead level with play..offside by a few yards should have flagged soon as the cross came in if not sooner
keepitsteel89
Otherwise center forwards may aswell stay in the box offside 'not interfering with play' until a cross comes in and they score
