Jordan Rhodes

He's still out there now trying to score. Bullen won't let him back on the team bus until he does. Could be a long night for Jordan.

Interesting opinions .. from my standpoint it was more than a nudge but he clearly wasn’t pleased about it .. and he did he celebrate eventually.

Regards what he did throughout game .. for 95 mins he was there or there about’s .. if you continually play the lad he’s scores but if you continually drop him in and out of games or ask him to play up on his own he ain’t effective enough.

football a game opinion and in my opinion he’s never been given a real chance here.

Tried tonight but the game passed him by. Not enough strength to be a hold up striker and not enough pace to outrun defenders. Fluffed a couple of good chances too. Think he needs to go.

No he didn’t, and yes the game passed him by. Only time I saw effort/application was to win a free kick towards the end.

Lad needs a time machine, it’s never ever going to happen for him here.

Useless and offers nothing.

As for 'playing to his strengths' - sounds like when we had Francis Jeffers. He didn't have any either.

Send him on loan somewhere. Anywhere. If he sets off now he might make it to Doncaster for Christmas.

Thing is, this run in the team will be at the expense if Fletcher who yes needs 5/6 chances before he scores but he generally gets 5/6 efforts away in a game.

JR is usually 5/10 yards off the pace never mind creating anything. Truly awful and hed be bottom of the pile striker wise for me at the moment.

Yep. Fletcher puts himself about, gives 100%, is a handful for defenders even when playing as lone striker and also gets into positions to take chances. I'd love Rhodes to regain his old form and score a hatful for us but realistically it just isn't going to happen and he's nowhere near the striker he used to be and at 29 is unlikely to ever be again. Yet because he's so expensive some people still ignore the facts, like him having the lowest goals to minutes ratio of any of our strikers in the last few years, and cling to this unfounded belief that he'll come good.

What attributes does he have? Apart from being able to give a good thumbs up. No pace, no strength, never really looks like scoring and so easy to defend against. There was a moment tonight when it looked like he'd got behind the defence and was going one on one with the keeper but he was caught up and dispossessed by that speedy young greyhound Richard Wood.

Jeffers was on a different wavelength to everyone here. He wanted to play one way but the other players didnt, making him look poo and worse than what he actually was.

Never been the same since Carlos threw him under the bus vs Huddersfield.

"Threw him under the bus "  classic forum cliche

"So Carlos, why didn't Rhodes take a pen" ?

"Because he didn't feel confident enough to take  one "

What should he have answered?

Think he was annoyed that Nuhiu stole a goal off him.

I'm not disappointed in a striker getting upset that he had a goal taken from him, far from it.

In fact, I'm more pleased he was upset at that. Even if it was only momentarily.

Nuhui wanted it more than Rhodes.

He chose him to take 6th?

Plenty of other options rather than using him as a scapegoat when we should have won the game in normal time.

Not really, was poor man management.

He could have said he was the sixth taker, just like he was when he was in the playoff final in the season where he'd scored over 40 goals.

Completely true, instead that comment had him vilified for Carlos' poor tactics all summer.

Pass the buck, Carlos was great at it and still some people can't see it, it's quite incredible.

Yep.

It's a Portuguese management tactic. Mourinho was a master at it when he was tactically poor.

Just used any old excuse to detract from a terrible 210 minutes, and the journos offered him one on a plate.

Yep, Staton and Carlos both got what they wanted out of that interview, no question.

Yeah poor old Franny, being too good for his teammates must be why he never scored more than 7 goals in any season in his career and also flopped in the PL and SPL at Arsenal, Rangers, Charlton and Blackburn.
