Shirt sponsorship worth

Recommended Posts

Just seen an article that shows how much the Premier league teams earn from shirt sponsors this season. There is a giant drop off from the top 6, then regular PL teams, then ones that are less certain are another step down.

It surprised me how little the bottom teams earn when they play in the PL. If we drop this to the championship then max we could expect is £500k? from a dodgy betting site presumely. I guess if chansiri puts his own name on and it allows him an avenue to invest in the club, then that is better than betnowloseyourmoney.com. Especially when clubs need to take the sponsors name off kids kit, think that is a sign something is not quite right. Glad we don't have a questionable company on our shirt, even if they give us £500k

1. Manchester United - £64 million (Chevrolet)

2. Manchester City - £45 million (Etihad)

3. Arsenal - £40 million (Fly Emirates)

4. Chelsea - £40 million (Yokohama)

5. Liverpool - £40 million (Standard Chartered)

6. Tottenham - £35 million (AIA)

7. West Ham - £10 million (Betway)

8. Everton - £9.6 million (SportPesa)

9. Wolves - £8 million (ManBetX)

10. Southampton - £7.5 million (LD Sports)

11. Burnley - £7.5 million (LoveBet)

12. Crystal Palace - £6.5 million (ManBetX)

13. Newcastle - £6.5 million (Fun88)

14. Watford - £6.5 million (Sportsbet.io)

15. Aston Villa - £6 million (W88)

16. Bournemouth - £5 million (M88)

17. Leicester - £4 million (King Power)

18. Sheffield United - £3.5 million (USG)

19. Norwich - £3 million (Dafabet)

20. Brighton - £1.5 million (American Express)

I think 300-400k was the figure I researched in a heated discussion a while ago.

The number of gambling companies sponsoring Championship teams was quite shocking when it was pointed out during the recent Rooney No.32 discussion too.  I think it was 8 from 20 in the Premier but a much higher proportion in our league.

and people wonder why there is an issue with young kids/teenagers having issues with gambling from an early age

Totally agree ... the funniest thing I have heard is ... when the fun stops, STOP!

For the vast majority of these inadequates who pour money they can ill afford

into making gazillions for another new betting firm to come into being every week,

THE FUN NEVER STARTED ... and if it did they are delusional, weak and will

certainly need help both financially and psychologically in the future.

God help their families.

Perhaps just one club stooped lower than all the others a season or so ago,  ... NUFC , .... surprise, surprise ...

when they were sponsered by WONGA.

Of course Wonga was need to fund the skint gamblers.

When the fun stops ... do me a favour ....

If you want to give money away give it to a hospice or

the Chidren's Hospital.

One of our best sponsors was to have the children's hospital on the shirt. Think what the prem clubs could do for one with it across their shirt.
Or even 1 weekend a season all clubs have a charity on their shirt, 1-off kits. So easy for them all to do, would be huge giving back.

No .. not true ... no revenue from betting ... masssive cost to deal with

the terrible effects.

The maths do not add up to a spinning capitalist system, out

of control .... yes agreed.

I still have the shirt and always will.

Was a fantastic sponsor to have and something that brought a fantastic local charity and people together.

Unfortunately, club's can't afford to go full seasons with free, Charity sponsorship these days.

Especially in the Championship when FFP ruins everything.

1 of the players told me at the Espanyol game that we are having 4 different sponsors this season.

I understand peoples concerns about young people gambling but

Man Utd used to have Vodafone, Wednesday had Sanderson,

Newcastle had Newcastle Brown,

Liverpool carlsberg, Arsenal JVC...

Never made me go out when I was nipper and buy any of those products.

Although we had to send my brother to rehab after his early noughties chupa chups addiction

It’s been mentioned on here before that we will have different sponsors for live tv matches.

If chansiri wants to plough money in to the club, what is stopping him sponsoring the club for £20 million per year?

Something in the rules prevents such a large amount but to be fair to DC, he said at a meeting that no other business could spend as much on shirt sponsorship as him. That’s why his name is on there.
