Jo's supporters....

A lot of Owls supported Jos because he was our manager.  He turned a few things around at first and we finished his first season reasonably well, geting the best out of Nuhiu and Jaoa on the way.  Unfortunately he made a fe bad decisions that did not work out for him, and was dismissed as results took a turn for the worse.  Always happens to a manager at some time, even with such as Wenger,  Jos' demise just came round a bit sooner.  Its over gone, why bring it up, point scoring? hindsight I know best?

this, in a nutshell.

Did alright at CSKA Moscow but could never quite hit the heights for Man City and Everton.

Seems to be popular in Brazil and now scoring goals in Japan

He's 32 but i'm sure he is older than that!!

Things went badly wrong in his final ten games, but Luhukay did the job we needed him to do when he arrested our slide under Carvalhal, and he did it very effectively - getting the kind of results which

suggested we could be in with a chance of challenging for the playoffs after a full summer to work with the squad, and somehow turning Nuhiu and João into free-scoring centre forwards in the process. Another weird quirk of Luhukay's tenure is that he got Forestieri scoring at a better rate than all his other managers have managed.

It's easy to forget, but we actually started last season well, despite some apparently odd decisions, and sat in the top six after the first dozen games. Unfortunately, once the wheels came off, he appeared to have no clue how to return us to winning ways, and the writing was quickly on the wall. I'd love to hear his take on his Wednesday tenure at some point, as whatever went off behind the scenes during that October international break totally decimated a season which had looked to be going okay up until that point.

There seems to be a binary approach to managers among some Owlstalkers, as if we need to pick sides and be either totally in favour of or totally against each incumbent, leaving very little room for shades of grey. To suggest that anyone who ever saw anything positive during Luhukay's tenure isn't a genuine supporter is just asinine.

Brilliant post that echoes my sentiments. Did well up to a point then it all went sour very quickly. He was marmite, some fans liked him, many didn't ... was tough coming in to the club in the situation it was in .. but he steadied the ship and got some good results. Just a pity that last season it went boobies up at the end and it started becoming very toxic.

Don't think anybody really thought he was doing a good job. Because he clearly wasn't.

Think a lot just refused to believe that it was all down to him,  or that anybody would actually be leaving out Westwood, Hutchinson etc in favour of young kids purely for footballing reasons and assumed there had to be more behind the scenes than we were being told.  That may still be the case although it seems unlikely now.

He was sh#t.  But we move on.

This.

I am probably one of those the OP is going on about, but I didn't think he was doing a good job, I just thought he had his hands tied behind his back. I didn't like the Hutch and Westwood situation, the constant changes, but I felt he could have had more time to see if we could improve again since we finished the 17/18 season so well. The first game after he went, we got a scrappy 1-0 win against 10 men Preston, and at the time I wondered if Jos would start turning it around after a result like that, but at the end of the season, with hindsight, the right decision was made. However also with hindsight, Steve Bruce turned out to be an absolute nob. What's done is done, now let's move on. Some people still talk about Carlos, but let's forget Carlos, Jos and Bruce and let's look forward to this season, whoever we get in charge, because it could be a good one!

I don't think it was all down to him as others have stated.

He was i believe following instructions but was stubborn also.

The source of our improvement is because Bruce has looked at the structure of the club and addressed things like:

1) we need to recruit players to answer squad deficiencies (which were obvious after the play off final)

2) we need to improve the fitness side as we suffer too many injuries

3) we need to employ a specialist recruitment team

All of the above would seem to be basic common sense but not obvious to everyone.

Hopefully lessons have been learned. I would feel more confident about that if chicken stuffing was no longer required.

I just want to ask something of the so called Jos supporters. Now he's finally gone and we've turned ourselves around again since his rightful sacking did the people who used to praise him and rate him actually mean it? I don't believe you possibly could for one minute. I and many more think you were on a wind up or simply United fans that had registered yourselves on here and were full of praise for him because you was overjoyed in watching him destroying our club and hoping we'd stick with him so you could sit back and watch us tumble down the leagues.  He was quite possibly the worst manager we've ever had so to big him up or want him to remain as manager can only mean you had an ulterior motive. Personally i saw through you straight away and so did most people. Only genuine supporters with Wednesday's best interest at heart in future please. UP THE OWLS.

Same old divisive crap.

He was crap. No two ways about it. But he did a job from Jan 2018 to May 2018...thereafter was a bit of a disaster,

But im fairly sure he didn’t come here to purposefully pet shop up and get sacked.

He came with no experience of English football, never mind one of the toughest leagues. Broken English and a frustrated fan base, plus the embargo and the big and injured squad he inherited ....a recipe for disaster. For that, I feel a bit sorry for him.

He was always going to fail.

It was a mistake to appoint him. I think Chansiri has learnt from that.

Jos is most definitely NOT the worst manager we have ever had.

Third worst in my life time behind Eustace and Burtenshaw.

Actually, I think Irvine was worse as well.

Imagine if Jos had arrived just one game later. Bullen in charge at Bramhall lane fresh from a 3-0 home hammering by Burton and a dreadful cup draw at Carlisle. We'd never hear the last of it.

Not forgetting the excellent performances at Elland Road, and Hull (even Rhodes got a goal, and Hector was anonymous), that second half of 17-18 earned Jos a lot of credit entering 18-19. But he quickly lost it after the first international break.
