Applying pressure on Alan Billings

Recommended Posts

It will be sad to see this played out in the media - alongside whatever else is happening... but it seems ‘they’ have fired the first shot in that sense.

Organisations like them are typically the ones where it’s “back me up on this, mate” ... the guy would only get replaced by someone similar.

Yes, whether it to be a petition or trying to create some noise in the media, the fan base needs to make itself heard on this one. My health and safety has never been put at risk during the many years I’ve entered and exited north stand at leppings lane. Mr Billings, SAG and SYP have made a decision which will put me and thousands of others in greater danger today. As he is an elected public servant there needs to be accountability and transparency. The decision doesn’t seem to be independent, proportionate, wise or consistent with actions made to other football clubs. There is a conflict of interest with SUFC and SAG which also needs to be raised. At best, this is incompetence. We need to ensure there is accountability for this farce. Anyone got connections with media, MPs?

I'm very concerned about what I've read about this issue and support some sort of action.

Perhaps a first step is to write with your concerns to Alan Billings and give him a chance to look into the situation. He may be persuaded to be onside?

The OP seems capable of articulating a fans view to Dr Billings and can point to the ground swell of opinion on here.

Can we also start one for Stephen Loddia and Andrew Udall from SCC who seem to have massive conflicts of interest in their roles with SAG.

This is of the clubs own doing I’m afraid.  This could have been resolved prior to the season starting had we acted sooner, it’s not just us either Bramall lane issues are being looked at also.  This is no fault of Chansiri but things have to change at the Leppings lane end of the stadium, it should have been demolished years ago and a more modern replacement built, it’s needs a larger concourse building over the river to create a wider access and egress point.  The issues with the coaches is absolute Bol locks as this was created by the police themselves.  This isn’t going away any time soon, we need to work with all parties otherwise our capacity is going to be around 28,000.

Anyone else feel that until we move to a new ground we always be the victims of our past. It will always affect our future. Move or re-vamp to the world Cup model. As the ground now belongs to DC surely he will have a good think about its future and how it is seen and victimised by others.

Why?

Because whilst it appears contentious and controversial to a lot of irate Owlstalkers I just can't see 20000 fans signing up to it. Hope Im wrong though.

I think we can if we keep talking about it and  get it out in the media showing how differently we are being treated to the pigs.

This guy on paper is highly influential.

If there was a petition signed by 20-30,000 people calling for his immediate removal as South Yorkshire police commissioner it would stir up a lot of attention to the process used by SYP in influencing SAG.

Something like

“I call for the immediate removal of Alan Billings as South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner following action by South Yorkshire Police to prepare a report on fans leaving Leppings Lane area of Sheffield Wednesday football ground.

The Club knew nothing about this report and was offered no input. It has resulted in future capacity restrictions and limiting of fan movements when leaving the stadium.

Whilst policing of Leppings Lane is a sensitive issue, fans have LEFT this area of the ground for decades with minimal issues.

I call upon the restrictions to be lifted immediately and reviewed again when all parties have been able to present independent evidence.

If Mr Billings does not take action in this regard he should be removed immediately from his role.”

We can influence this process through democratic means like petitions. Sometimes action like this is the only way to help shine a light on unreasonable decisions like the restrictions the club currently face.

Worth considering?

No

About to board a plane. If someone wants to use the wording above and start an e petition then let’s get moving.

Hillsborough

Child sexual exploitation scandal

one common denominator... SYP

The force should have been disbanded years ago.

Could be wrong but the way this has all panned out looks like a number of people complained about policing during the derby game and the SYP response is to deflect blame to the club. Shameful if true
