Those points Villa got against the pigs thanks to the ineptitude of VAR could just about keep them up.

Ineptitude of VAR?  I call it karmic retribution.  The pigs deserve the butt end of every decision, call or judgement.

Oh I’m not complaining. The sound of passports being thrown back into the drawer by the S2 peasants has been deafening.

Plus at 0-0 vs Palace they had a goal against them overturned by VAR - with just about everybody baffled as to why

But still, as long as VAR keeps getting the big decisions right as we were assured it would...

I wnted Villa to go down just due to the schadenfreude of seeing them deal with the financial repercussions but after Watford sacked Pearson with two games to go I am more than happy for them to go down, I also would like to see Deeney at a bigger club

As a local what’s your view on Watford’s season? The decision to sack Pearson with two games left looks barmy. Can only assume something has kicked off in private there.

Wanted Villa to go down, but they've got West Ham, whilst Watford have Arsenal.

Out of interest, what would happen if Watford lost to Arsenal 1-0 and Villa lost to West Ham 2-0?

Probably down to Goals Scored then, Villa have scored more than Watford and Bournemouth.

If Bournemouth win at Everton they'd both go down

With the squad they have there is no way they should be in this mess

But it started in pre season with players being bought who the manager didn't want - and that caused a rift - especially when the manager wouldn't play some of the new signings and when he had names that should be playing "suggested" to him he ignored that too

Watford had built quite an attacking team under Gracia - but with the fallout they had an horrendous start to the season which was compounded by bringing back the ultra defensive Sanchez-Flores

Pearson did get them back to playing a system that suited their players - playing much more on the front foot and they started picking up results and an impressive escape looked likely

Losing Delefeou for the rest of the season was a crippling blow - but they still looked favourites to beat the drop

Then the latest fall out could have completely derailed them again. Looks like it was behind the scenes stuff again

City are no barometer though - losing only 4-0 to them is one of their better results against them!

Thank you for that, really interesting.

The local supporters are presumably now resigned to their fate? I can see Villa winning at West Ham on Sunday and winning away at Arsenal is a big ask even if they have nothing to play for. With the squad they have you would at least fancy them to bounce back next season. Up to this point the club seems to have been very well run.

Needless to say it’s going to be another absolute w*nkathon Liverpool fest tonight. Extended free to all coverage I believe put on by Sky Sports, with the old red brigade in the studio.

Kenny Dalglish handing the trophy over with a pyrotechnics show played out to an empty stadium. Whoop.

Incidentally when Chelsea won the Premier league back in 2004 that was their first league title in 50 years......don’t recall any media love like this back then, in fact it was more well this is the end of football and Jonny foreigner taking over. The irony
