VAR isn’t used to adjudicate whether a ball crosses the goal-line or not, so if the technology failed then they couldn’t use VAR anyway. I might be wrong, but that’s how I understood it. Sky said at half time that because the ball didn’t go dead - VAR could have over ruled Hawkeye. Only passing it on - no idea. .
