Mixed feelings about Joao going.

On his day he is class. But it happens too infrequently.

From his own point of view why the f... would he want to go to Reading

Because his mate is the manager, and he'll be the main man, I guess

All deals are paid across the length of the contract

Just like when we go to reinvest the money

This. If we sign Hector say for £3-4M now Reading have taken some of the fee off then we'd pay that over the length of what would presumably be a 3-4 year contract. We'd not be paying millions upfront.

Can people saying £5-6m for Joao is a good deal please give the name of another Championship striker aged 25 or below who's scored 20 league goals in the last 2 years and is available for £6m or less?

Kemar Roofe has scored  29 in the last 2 years and is being sold for £7M. Some of that is going to go to West Brom too.

Can't say I'm looking forward to seeing them go up in the automatics with João top scorer

 lol

I just hope we offload Winnall or Rhodes as well and bring in a replacement. Someone with pace who's adept in the no.10 role

What on earth do we do with £800k a year in instalments?

What seemed good business is now awful business.

Can’t really be £800k a year, as it has to be over the length of his contract doesn’t it?

Majority of transfers are paid in installments, just like when we bought Rhodes.

all these transfer charlies on here.

when you SELL - you recognise as much of the transfer fee as possible as soon as possible.

when you BUY - you recognise the fee over the life of the contract

it looks better in the books.

Thats why the whole Rhodes saga was a mess - because if we sell him for less than we bought him for then it looks terrible in the books

800k upfront plus the rest on performance is a terrible deal for Joao. The only benefit is it gets his wage off the books.
