gypsyowl
according to our site he's the only u23 keeper we have, I take it he'll be on bench on Saturday as Westwood suspended and Wildsmith injured?

Birley Owl 1867
Is Wildsmith definitely injured? If so then yes you'd think so, Luke Jackson is the U18 no.1 i think who'd be in with a shout.
Quist
Wildsmith injured. Keeping in some of junior games has been atrocious pre season. But due to chopping and changing difficult to say who was in nets. If we do not sign anybody its Render and this would be boost for Academy seeing him put on bench

gurujuan
It’s hard to judge looking at the clips from academy games, but Render seems rather short for a modern day keeper. Maybe some of those who watch the games can give an opinion Seems a decent shot stopper though
alanharper
Some say we need to bring in a loan keeper as cover, but (unless Dawson gets injured this week) I'd take the risk for 1 game. Had KW been out for 3 then maybe. Gives Render valuable experience of being in the first team squad as well.

Caliban
Whoever ends up on the bench he'll definitely be better than Reading's gk

steelcityowlsfan
Render as cover for one game should be ok, though a GK on a 3 month loan would be sensible just in case.
MrTacoSWFC
So what is it for a straight red these days? 3 match ban or just 1?

Serious foul play (Eg if Westwood had been sent off for the lunge and two footed tackle) is 3 games Denial of a goal scoring opportunity (Eg if Westwood sent of for being last man) is 1 game Seems to have been the latter in this instance fortunately. room0035
We seem very light on Keepers completely very surprised both Under 23's and under 18's only have one keeper I can only think they have plans for a few kids to come into the reckoning as one injury and both under 23's and under 18's will be struggling to field a team. Doghouse Daz
Josh has been excellent in the few times I've seen him play, though so were his defensive line, particularly Errett - Thompson. He's been with the academy since age 11 I think. Big ask though to jump in the potential hot seat, though every confidence in him. Have they changed the rules on emergency goalkeepers, or can you still sign one after the transfer deadline, should we suffer another injury. tarn owl
Yep, or maybe go bold and have no keeper on the bench, have Hutch go in if needed. It is Bullen as manager after all.
