Norwich Rhodes Bid

Devils advocate .........

He’s arguably not in the first 16 names you’d want in the squad if fit currently

We won’t be anywhere near promotion realistically

Isn’t it best to get him off the wage bill??

I agree, but not as basically a favour to Norwich. Without recouping a large chunk of the reckless amount we gambled on him, we are correct in telling them to balls (good summary above by Leaping Lannys Perm). And they could well be back as the deadline approaches with a more attractive offer.

Dom hits the nail on the head yet again ...

"Rhodes has struggled to make an impact since moving to Hillsborough in February 2017, hitting just 10 appearances in 55 outings."

... no wonder he's barely scored, JR obviously didn't turn up for the other 45

Does he combine his day trips with occasional football matches?

The trouble is, unfortunately we are not in much of a position to negotiate aggressively

Free sounds ridiculous, but when you look at all the variables, it’s worth looking at

Why are clubs throwing 15-20 million on average Bristol City players but won't pay the going rate for a proven goalscorer on our books.

Because the EFL Soft Embargo is like a flag that says "Desperate, Vulnerable and Open to Exploitation"

Personally hope Rhodes stays and is given a chance under the new manager.

He's already had 55 chances for us, and rewarded us with the princely total of just 10 goals. Blame what you like (and the list of excuses offered so far have been absolutely unique in my experience of Wednesday players dating back four decades), but the truth is all 5 of our other strikers have outperformed him comprehensively in the one element of the game he was supposed to excel at, whilst still offering all the other things that Rhodes cannot.

If he stays, then he deserves the opportunity to earn his place, but nothing he has done in almost four years now would justify that degree of faith.

Wrong.

He’s managed 10 appearances in those 55 games

Yes we are. We have something they want.

Cos Rhodes is no longer a "proven goalscorer"

Do you honestly think..all these clubs are "missing a trick" ?

They obviously don't rate him ...
