I honestly don’t think he is good enough, and neither is Hutch If they were they wouldn’t have got outfought in the semi against Huddersfield, and the final against hull

Which ever way you want to spin it. They're still new signings. And obviously, the will have attracted no interest whatsoever from any other club. Fornicate me. As crazy as it sounds, on paper we had Abdi and Jones as cover in the centre, and these have left. We haven't strengthened this area at all - why is this, one week till the season kicks off? I don't buy the manager situation has stopped everything. I can't imagine there's any decent freebies left, which leaves us with the loan market which is a total lottery. I’m torn on this I love Lee as a player, and we have really missed him But I don’t think we’ve missed him as much as we missed Hooper and Wallace For me, we always looked a better team when Hooper was playing And as for Wallace, when he went off injured in the play offs, I knew we’d blown it Just a bloke, who used up all his luck in one go when he met his wife. Saw him in his 10 minute come back cameo for the reserves around October time and really did think he was done . Hopefully he can play a part all season Bloody hell that was nearly positive

This is is a long-standing issue for us. It goes back to our first season in the championship under Dave Jones. one of the most baffling things about Carlos’s time as manager was when he selected a three man central midfielder (Bannan, Hutchinson and Lee) v Arsenal which worked brilliantly but then never played it again as far as I can recall.

We were in a soft embargo when we 'signed' the three in May. We couldn't announce them till July, which people suggested coincided with the announcement of the accounts. People have taken this as we're out of the soft embargo. We haven't signed anyone since May. I fully expected another 2/3 new signings, in particularly a central midfielder. In terms of moving forward, if the accounts have still not been approved by the EFL and we enter the new season under a soft embargo, we presumably have to work within the transfer restrictions - I don't know if we can actually sign anyone now under free transfer and the alternative will be a loan player. I'm not sure Lee's re-signing is linked to this, but the announcement is a late one - i.e. insurance policy on moving events.
Paddyowl
Best news of the summer......so far. We've always been a better outfit with him on the field.
Mike Hunt
I doubt anyone at the club is thinking we can rely on Lee for a full season but what a player to have around and off the bench . Bit like Hutchinson . We do need another central midfielder no doubt though .

Have you really equated members of our squad to this lot? That's the sort of typical nonsense you find here on Owlstalk. In reality none of these players would make onto our team!

Sultan_Pepper
Our best player. If him, Hooper and Foresitieri had stayed injury free we'd be a premier league team by now. Delighted that he has signed and with his injury record it won't be a bank busting signing either

Aguero - just a more expensive Forestieri Silva - over 30 and not the 'midfield beast' we need De Bruyne - too injury prone - he'd basically be the new Abdi Komany - way too old and injury prone Sterling - Might be a decent pacy option off the bench, to be fair
