Sell him for 3-4 million but insist on a 30-40% sell on clause would be the best would could hope for I think.

If you think any buying team will accept a 30-40% sell-on clause, you must be on crack. A more likely figure would be 10%, 15% at the very most.

Explains the meeting the pair had the other day.

Chansiri really needs to learn it’s completely normal to sell players. If he doesn’t understand it, Football really isn’t for him. We have six strikers. Please see some sense DC. 8 million is a ridiculous valuation.

It’s madness. A squad player like Joao... £8m? Crazy. This is the reason the only player he’s sold in the last 4 years is Jack Hunt and also the reason he’s had to sell the ground to himself for stupid money.

EXCLUSIVE: SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY striker Lucas Joao is set to hand in a transfer request after the club rejected bids from two Championship rivals.

The Owls turned down offers from the unknown teams because they did not meet their £8million valuation.

But the Portuguese ace, 25, wants out of Hillsborough where he has spent four seasons, scoring 25 goals from 114 appearances – but 61 of those have been from the bench.

A source close to Joao said: “He wants to move on to a new challenge. He is disappointed the club have not allowed him to talk to other teams and if there is no solution soon he will be putting in a transfer request.

“Joao believes he is being overvalued out of a move.”

Joao joined Wednesday from Portuguese club Nacional on a four-year deal – but signed an extension that ties him to the managerless Yorkshire team until the summer of 2021.

This may all be true, but it reads like the Bruce situation has reminded the mainstream media, that SWFC still exists ...

I better have a look on OT to see what's going on

*sees random picture of Chansiri with someone who looks a bit like Joao*

*sees the Rhodes fred, with OTers flouncing about Chansiri not 'snapping their hands off for half the price'*

Will tomorrow bring a new Henfleet exclusive?

I don't think it is. Hugill went for 10, Swansea just turned down 15 for McBurnie. With a little more consistency, Joao would be worth double the 8mil DC is holding out for.

Depends how cheap we are willing to let him go for.

We say its 7 million or 3 million with a 30% sell on fee you would be surprised how many would accept.

Maybe people can see why Bruce has left? He’s said on a number of occasions he needs to wheel and deal, we’ve got too many strikers and an unbalanced squad. But he can’t do this when we put these valuations on players.

This summer we’ve seemingly had offers for both Rhodes and Joao, a great opportunity to raise funds and help with FFP whilst more importantly giving our manager more room to do his job. But we’ve rejected both offers. It must be incredibly frustrating for a manager.

If ever there was a player that needs a sell on clause.

He will move and become a star.

The Wednesday way.

But Swansea and Preston aren’t hampered by FFP and don’t have a squad which needs evolving and trimming.

6 strikers is ridiculous. Take what you can for Joao and use the money to add to the midfield and wide areas where we lack quality.

Ok, can go for me. £8m optimistic but anything £3-5m dependent on sell on clause could be considered.

.

Frustrating player, has all the attributes but doesn't seem to grasp the work hard in every game concept. If he wants to be a regular starter in any championship team, he's going to have to learn to graft. If not, a move back to Europe best for him.

Well a) why would we take the risk of taking a substantially lower initial figure in the hope that *maybe* he'll get a mega money move somewhere in the future (despite us not thinking he is first team material and that he isn't developing)? If we sold him for 3 million instead of 7, we would need him to sell for 12 million to make it back, even if it was a 30% clause.

and b) Man Utd only managed a 25% sell-on clause with Zaha, and that was with them taking a 7 million hit on what they'd paid to Palace.

4-5 million is the maximum we can expect and we may well have been offered that from the unnamed clubs. His first few games for us he was unplayable until losing the tooth. Has been very intermittent with his performances since then. Some days he looks like the player we’d hoped for then others was a passenger. Can’t really carry anyone on a trimmed down squad.
