Leave it to bullen

If Hughton has turned us down then why not. Monk and rowett weren't vastly experienced when they got a crack a managing in the championship and they seem to get linked with every job going. Bullen has worked closely with the group and will carry on the foundations left by Bruce.

Ideally, it would happen before a ball is kicked. Imagine managers who are interested would prefer a clean slate at start of season.

Do we want to appoint anyone who is sacked early season, probably not. Do we want to wait for other teams to also be in the market for the best available manager after such early sackings, no.

Ideally get the best man in before August begins but don't appoint anyone for the sake of it. It has to be the right man. Bully can do a job until right man comes in.

I think one or two people don't like Bullen, apparently he's blocked a few on twitter, maybe this is reason.

He won't want job permanently as he's happy coaching but he'll be happy to hold reigns till new man comes in.

I don't understand this "wait for the right person" bõllocks. What does that even mean? Wait for the right person to be sacked, resign, what? The right person is already there, we'll just have to pay to get them.

How long are you willing to wait for the "right" person? I think the whole point is that the "right" person doesn't just come along and say "hey there" We have to go and get them.

The thing is, we don’t need to rush, as pretty much all those on that list will be unemployed come the season’s start Were we to make an appointment now, they wouldn’t even have time to personally assess the squad, never mind impose their own style with friendlies coming thick and fast. Bullen knows what’s needed, the recruitment team will bring in the players, and we can continue our pre season work, that seems to be going quite well. Then, we can appoint the right person, who can gradually introduce some of his own ideas, with plenty of time to take stock before the January window. All this, unless there is the perfect fit out there, maybe Hughton, or we can pull off a Leeds style coup

You're missing the point. The right person isn't going to suddenly come along as if by magic. This isn't Mr. Benn. The right person is out there right now. We have to use the money from Bruce to get them.

You could edit it this down to ‘let’s just write off this season now’.

We don’t have a recruitment team, Bullen isn’t up to the job for one month never mind six months. Three weeks is enough time to assess a squad... with Bullen’s help... or rather three weeks is a better amount of time than six when the slate is clean as opposed to six months whilst sliding down the league. But most importantly, Bullen is not up to the job. He knows it and most people know it.

‘We don’t need to rush because the pool we’ll choose from will still be the pool when it’s too late to make any changes and they’ll not have time to implement their own ideas now so let’s get them in even later when the thing that is now very close is even closer... or in fact has already started’

There’s not much sense there

Exactly this. The right person is out there we just need to get him, maybe he’s out of a job, maybe he’s already in a job. If we have to get a man already in a job, fair enough, other teams do that.

I think we would have had a 3 or 4 man shortlist and Hughton was top of it.

Am expecting number 2 on that list to be approached very soon.

The speed we went after Hughton tells me we ain't hanging about.

We will have a new manager by the weekend.

Let’s hope that number 2 isn’t sodding Zola.

What's the evidence Bullen isn't up to the job ? No axe to grind , just wonder how anyone can draw such a conclusion - everyone has to start somewhere .

His two (?) spells as caretaker plus his clear lack of ambition to be a manager.

That is the issue there, we are already playing games, after preparing to play in a certain way, and we are probably a few phone calls away from completing the squad. There is no time to assess the squad, bring in your own players, and start implementing a different way of playing, so the rush to appoint a manager right now is pointless

All the Miss Marple’s will be out in force at Northampton.

Looking forward to updates on who’s there, more than updates on the game.

Miss Marple is currently 20/1 for the job
