So does anyone on here know what the legal position is? If somebody resigns, are they free to take up another position immediately, and if so, will we have to take out an injunction to stop them

Probably depends on what his contract says and if there is a financial release clause in it and whether that is met. Too many questions really to be able to say.

He's in breach of contract. Wednesday are entitled to his exclusive services as a football manager for the duration of the contract.

The thing that muddies the waters is that English law has a presumption against restraint of trade, so our ability to stop him working for someone else is circumscribed. We have to keep paying him, for one. For another, if we replace him, we might lose our hold over him.

Thank you, so we will probably have to accept a compromise with Newcastle, as Bruce has forced our hand now

Probably. But the only way to get the best available compromise is to start out by protecting our interests robustly.

It's a bloody ridiculous situation driven by a bloody megalomaniac

Geordie fans  are disgusted by the actions of both Ashley and Bruce

Wednesday fans are the same,

Bruce name if not tarnished already is now lower than his dogs belly and 2 football clubs preparations for the coming season are in turmoil

Simply because of one fat greedy chairman .

A chairman whose sole intention it seems is to further alienate his own fan base.

Has anyone else ever known the fans of both clubs involved in a managerial change being so utterly against it?

As for Chansiri?

What on earth is he expected to do?

Simply take it?

He's faultless in this no matter what your opinion of past actions

In other lines of work companies often have the power to stop people working for competitors for a certain amount of time after leaving.

You could always employ a manager and call him a director of football or head coach or whatever but he just has to do pretty much the same job..
