Push on with the recruitment whatever

Recommended Posts

We all think, and naturally so, that this issue with Bruce will stop recruitment.

Keep pushing on with it I say. Three in, a trialist who looks good competition for Bannan. Sign him then keep pushing. We dream of Hector. Nice if the compo could be thrashed out and this could be sorted. He is a no brainer no matter who comes in. There are other squad positions too. Would have been good to see the odd trialist or two in the games other than the chap from Brentford. Time is of the essence to get the squad rounded. All this about a new manager having to have his own players. Thing is improvements are improvements. Another wide player would be good. Let's get a few more good out of contract players in or maybe a solid season long loan or two in. Let's go into the season in best shape possible with competition for all places. And if this manager situation drags on Bruce can crack on and sort this squad out. Time is running down. Instead of waiting for Ashley to call him.

If the last six months have shown anything it's that the squad we have now is clearly capable of a top six finish. Should Bruce leave, then the incoming manager won't have to completely revamp the squad. It's not all doom and gloom peeps.

Players want to know who they're signing/playing for. Recruitment is on hold until this mess is resolved. Frustrating as it jeopardises our planning and preparation, but nowt we can do.

Bruce worked well with a squad which wasn't his when he first came in. If good players are there we can't miss out on em. Hector being one. So we don't pursue him until some new manager comes in? Still have to keep an eye open to it. Three possibly four might be here that's had no sanction of any new manager. The remit is to prepare ourselves for the new season.

How can we recruit without knowing how we plan to play? We need a clear formula and identity based upon the way our manager, whoever that may be, wants to play. They may have more / less influence in the market and gave their own ideas etc.

The only thing that needs to happen is for the situation to be resolved quickly I.e. by Monday. Then we can start to make a move.

Yes a speedy resolvement would be most ideal. But, even through hold ups, improve we should.

Since Bruce and his team took over, we reached joint sixth in the form table, which would suggest a top six challenge could be possible, though we don't have any room for error.

However, during that period, Hector was one of our most influential players and we no longer have him as part of the squad. Hopefully Börner can be as effective, but that remains to be seen.

It's certainly not clear that our squad is capable of a top six finish without a few key additions, in my opinion.

Just tell them we have got Klopp coming in. They sign.

Then when Moyes walks through the door nick their car keys.

Signing players now without a manager would be a huge red flag for anyone half decent who wants full control

Also, despite people insisting otherwise i think the previous advisers to the owner are no longer about or definitely not as active

As the chairman has reiterated, the issue of recruitment is not solely in the hands of the manager, it never is these days. The recruitment team can finalise any deal for Hector, and surely must do so

Just need that compo up front first
