The amount of fat shaming in these threads is getting pretty deplorable now.

Like all Owlstalkers are the peak of physical fitness.

Excess is for the bourgeoisie.

They should be shamed for their ideology.

With FFP we’d be mad not to take the cash. But I think Bruce has been long gone since earlier in the week. The club clearly won’t let him just dissapear comfortably though

Let's face it, Doyen have played Mr C for a mug, and then the fans call for a proper "Football Manger" and he gets played for a mug again.

If I were Mr C I'd make it as difficult as possible for Bruce and Ashley.

We should hold out for the maximum we can extract out of them, but we should move on now, even at the risk of paying Bruce to do nothing for a couple of months. Someone will come knocking on Mr Cs door eventually, and I don't see a line of people lining up at Mr Ashley's door at Newcastle. He's as desperate as Bruce for him to have the Newcastle job.

On a plus side, its the best piece of transfer activity we've done in years.

Brucellosis is on record as saying that he wished he'd spent more time up there before his parents died.

It's likely he has more family up there.

He's a fan, and Newcastle are in  the PL.

We can't blame him for wanting to leave.

It's just our rotten, stinking luck that this has happened.

I don't buy all of that. He's a wealthy man and could have retired. He chose to join us. That's a commitment he hasn't seen through for long enough to say he's given it a good go, in my opinion. The Newcastle job, albeit closer geographically, will be no less demanding than working here - possibly more so.

I understand his desire to manage Newcastle, but DC has done the decent thing and let him speak with them. Fact is Newcastle wanted him on the cheap. It's not DC's fault that Newcastle approached a manager they weren't willing to pay for. The clause is in the contract. Both Bruce and his agent would have known that from the start.

It seems football contracts are only honoured when your dealing with a horse which needs to be shot, as we've only just got rid of a whole field of horses which needed shooting.

I suspect when Bruce asked Mr C if he could speak to Newcastle he couldn't believe what he was hearing. There was only one answer, "would you like me to call a D Taxi to get you to Newcastle Steve?"

We should have known this was coming when it turned out you had to be called Steve to be part of his Management team... Its all about Steve

You were lucky... I only went to the toilet and when I got back, the whole saga has turned into some sort of country and western song.

I'd like Kev to give us the full details of who he believes is taking over. Come on Kev!

Here is the latest regarding SB

    • 2/2 SB: "It's in the hands of both clubs and we will see what develops over the next 24 to 48 hours. "It's football and it has come from nowhere really in the last two to three days so we will see what the weekend brings." #SWFC

1/2 SB has confirmed he has had a conversation with Newcastle this week. When asked would he like to be the next Newcastle manager, he replied: "Look, it has happened so quickly that I have got to take stock of the situation." #SWFC

Steve Bruce has spoken to the media. This is what he had to say on Newcastle: "Speculation is speculation. It's in the hands of the clubs. For me, at this particular moment, there is nothing really to talk about until the two clubs reach some sort of compromise." #SWFC

And it goes on

Latest! Told agreement on compensation almost there. I’m sworn not to reveal figure but IF correct & IF that figure becomes public, #swfc fans will be happier than #nufc fans. Low salary for Steve Bruce but huge bonus if he keeps them up. That’s level of ambition for Mike Ashley!
