Although won’t the salary figure look higher than it actually is, due to the accounting period being extended? Eg, the wage bill quoted will be for 14 months as opposed to 12? Or is that way off the mark

Edit - If that’s the case, obviously the wage bill is still ridiculously high!

Player sales are basically the only feasible route to make a substantial difference to this

Good, that’s exactly how it should be

Thats quite an assumption.

Indeed but as most of the club staff will be part time match day staff they won't be in a lot of cash.

most of the catering and stewards will be in minimum wage or there abouts.

Westwood is on £20-30,000 a week or £1-2m a season with salary, bonuses and other related employment costs such as employers nic and pensions. Then times that by 30+ first team squad members and first team coaching staff.

Lee, fessi, reach, lees, hutch, bannan, fletcher, joao it won't be far off 90% of the cost being the first team. Bruce himself is on a report £2m a season.

I’m still amazed our average wage is around 20k a week. That’s insane for the quality of player on offer

I’m still struggling to see why the wage bill went up so much (12m was it?) when we only signed Rhodes, Boyd, Van Aken, Pelupessy and Venancio for 17\18 season.

If Rhodes was 40k a week, that’s ‘only’ 2m a year. Where has the rest gone?

So the chairman has found a way to avoid getting a points deduction and an embargo which, according to some was nailed on in May and the self same people are up in arms about it...wonder why?

Because it’s an indication of total mismanagement over the last few years. Having to sell Hillsborough to stave off a points deduction is pretty poor.

Few more big earners will drop off next season probably.

Need to keep the squad from getting as big again as it has been especially upfront and sell a few here and there and we'll be ok.

Without parachute payment cash you are restricted to loans from the PL to get out of this league really. The sides that adjust quickest to the new reality have a big start on everyone else.

Can't fault Chansiri's perserverance. He knows a spell in the PL like Huddersfield just had doubles his investment.

Got to remember it is total wage cost, players have an array of bonuses in their contracts, signing on fees.

One little snippet from the accounts is the contingent liability note - the amount that could fall due if certain number of appearances are made in future etc .

Continues to run us badly I see

What would you suggest he do differently (that will actually make a tangible difference)?

The biggest mistake is not selling players when we've had decent offers.  But imagine the outcry if we'd have sold FF after his first season with us when the bids were coming in.

If you can be arsed searching through owl stalk posting history there’s continuous critique at how the club has been run on many levels

These accounts continue to show he’s running this club badly

it doesn’t take a genius to work it out

And I’m not wasting any more effort explaining the obvious

He’s trying to compete in a division where a third of our opponents have PL failure payments and aren’t hamstrung by the same ridiculous rolling 39million rolling 3 year losses!

Because the odds are so heavily stacked in favour of the relegated teams he and other chairmen are having to use previously unheard of methods just to avoid a relegation battle for their respective clubs let alone a promotion push!

It doesn’t take a genius to work it out as you’ve clearly demonstrated!

Well done DC ........

By far the best, most ambitious Chairman in my half century of watching & supporting my team!

Sorry @casbahowlyou’re right to disagree. It’s a sign of a really well run club. Silly me.

Give us a clue how he can double the club's turnover.  That's what would need to happen for us to be able to sustain a squad capable of challenging at the top end of the table without him having to continuously fund losses.

Selling more shirts and pies won't cut it unfortunately.
