As I said, if he wasn't part of the problem but more of a good player stuck in a bad set up why didn't anyone better than Sunderland take him out of that situation during their annual seasons of failure.

Wages probably. Same reason we can't shift players on.  He might be a good player but is he a £40k p.w. good player?  Probably not. Not good enough for the Premiership but good enough for top end Championship at the right price. Which isn't £40k p.w. He might be worth £15k p.w. to us. Maybe.

Just a guess at his wage. Insert whichever figure you prefer.

This is exactly what websites like this are for, people to have opinions.

And to prove what great managers  of SWFC we would make.

Your memories of Carlton Palmer's 2nd spell and Soldvedt's time at Hillsborough appear to be a lot fonder than mine!

Initially they gave us some impetus and kept us up as I recall. It couldn’t last but they gave us a boost.

Some of us would probably do a better job than half we've had over the past 30 years

If we continue to quadruple players wages, that would put Lee Cattermole on 124k per week.

No wonder he's left Sunderland by mutual consent.

If we can get LC then we should thats a no brainier.. hes on a free, he wont be commanding the wage he did at the start of his last contract, and SB clearly is desperate not to have Joey as a 2nd choice DM

Can't believe we paid Jones 600k per week. Joke of a club!

I think SB knows what he’s doing

he knows the Championship & he knows Cattermole.

in Bruce I trust

he’s not going to spunk his wad of cash on someone who won’t fit in.

I know LC has a reputation, but he’s not scared to go into a tackle & rough up some players. Exactly what we need imo

Let me clear one thing in my mind.

Situation  (No specific player intended, nor any specific club)  - We have a player who's being paid £100,00 per week. We agree to let him go at the end of his contract. He becomes a free agent at the end of his contract. No-one shows any interest in him. What happens next? Does the player a) continue to belong to us, and we pay his wages, or b) does the player simply go on the dole and we cease to pay him.

Serious question.
