have u been to leeds? there police are horrible and im not saying that just because I don't like leeds utd. they are the most heavy handed police in the uk, treat away supporters like animals and watch you like a hawk any slight chanting and they look to throw you out ,ive seen over handed tactics used by west Yorkshire police towards us, not seen that anywhere else. you treat supporters right and talk/joke with them and you in general will get a better behaved bunch.

Been to Leeds loads and never experienced that at all.

Have to say there has been a massive sea change in how fans are treated since the days of getting herded to the ground and woe  betide if you stepped in the road.

Still a long way to go, away fans can only use certain pubs, why should anyone tell you which pub you can or cannot use?  Not been able to drink on coaches but other sports fans can.

Police are at their best when they assist you instead of denying you.  There are plenty of helpful and friendly cops, it's a pity they are forgotten when you run across the dogmatic and unhelpful ones.

Nah pal its not overtime payments they're after.

SYP are just a gang up for a fight. Always have been always will be. Other forces have adapted from the 80s age but ours are stuck in the past.

I'm not that widely travelled within the uk now that I can comment on present other forces. but having travelled extensively in earlier times I found small local forces a bit more understanding, than their big city compatriots.

numerous forces in larger areas are 'up for it' without a doubt, with a decent stick in your hand, some spray, plenty of 'up for it' mates at hand, aggressive dogs, AND the law on your side why wouldn't they be?

but policing will always be about JOB NUMBERS and MONEY, remind me, what is it YOU go to work for?

SYP are wanting to improve. Together with supporters and safety officers  from all South Yorkshire clubs they have helped set up an Independent advisory group. Twitter @sypiag

Neil from OT was invited to attend but never did.

The group has met four times since its formation in February, these meetings are aimed at improving the overall fan experience and the policing of games. At SWFC some of the group observed  the egress of fans from the away end at the Aston villa ,  with a view to see how this could be improved. It is very early days .

The chair of the group(elected by the non police members) is Martin O'Hara (deputy chair of FSF) and a Donny rovers/England fan.  As you may be aware Martin and the fsf operate @fsa_faircop .

If you want to send any messages to the group then please do so on twitter @sypiag

South Yorkshire Police should have been disbanded years ago.

How can anyone forget Orgreave, 130 fake and forced statements following the Hillsborough diaster and the 300 girls abused by Asian Grooming Gangs in Rotherham.

They even messed up in the Cliff Richard case.

SYP force are a complete laughing stock and it is unbelievable that they are still in existence.

100% Spot on about SYP.as a force they are no longer fit for purpose in this day and age. :tango:

I love those programs . Just shows how useless the police and our courts are . How unfit you have to be to be a copper and blaming the weight of the equipment making them unable to run five feet rather than the fifty pies and laziness .Most of the people they catch are released without charge and the ones they actually prosecute get laughably light sentences . The voice overs are great , public member drives like an idiot and its , fool putting lives in danger . Copper drives like it's his first day behind the wheel and its , only the drivers fantastic skill and training stopping an accident WTF: so what does 153 feel like :Chansiri:

153?  Exhilarating mate, feckin exhilarating. FFS

@pahowl ... in light of the Prohibition Notice, could you confirm (as far as you can recall) which members of the ‘group observed the egress of fans from the away end at the Aston Villa game with a view to see how this could be improved’ ... I’m not after individuals names, obviously, but specifically whether comments were made from SYP or other organizations such as SCC, SAG or indeed SWFC ... For reference, this was the game where Mr Ben Cowcill of MMU attended as part of his site visit for the MMU report commissioned by SYP

Thanks in advance

In time honoured Owlstalk tradition I call bull..............

I know a thousand senior officers

who think that  SYP are the dogs....

Come at me bro......

You actually know people who think SYP are the dogs..

lol

You know some deluded people then.

Worst force in the country by a mile. Still waiting on Sheffield Uniteds prohibition notice, SYP are about fairness and justice aren't they?

The pigs have the EXACT same issues at their ground we are being persecuted for.

Can remember having a right ding dong with both outside the grounds.  On one occasion Weany made his presence known and the Everton fans gave him much respect.

The main part of it is attitude....

I remember going to York on the train, during the "Save our Owls" campaign..all the stickers etc...took a right following...The police met us at the statiuon..and we went in groups...  its about a 10-15 minute walk...

copper next to us had an alsatian with a ridiculous bark..sorta cross between a bark and a question..The copper was about 60...Everytime the dog barked we said "what"...then the copper who was laughing..started talking to a few of us about how long he had been in charge of the dog..It was quite old as I remember..then someone patted the dog..then the copper said "he likes crisps"..then we started feeding the dog..It was f.ookin' ridiculous...200 ,Owls fans an old bloke and an old dog..Got on like an house on fire....

That was in an age when it could kick off properly..any minute...that old copper had no trouble whatsover..Cos he KNEW what the f.ook he was doing....

Thats all it takes sometimes
