I think most of us who were lucky to have seen him play would agree with A12.

Most of us expressed our opinion on this when Snooty was doing his Dream Team malarkey.

A top class left back, tough tackling and skilful.

For me, our best ever club captain, the consummate pro and an all round good guy.

I give you.................

Dave Rushberry....rarely mentioned..played for a while...wasn't as good as the Don....probably wasn't as good as Fox...palmer, worthington or King...or most other left backs we had...

but I thought I would mention him...Very hard in the tackle...but often err...a bit late

Better than Worthington? I wasn’t born when Don played so can only rely on older posters opinion.

Worthington gets in my best seen 11 but only by a whisker from THE DON ….

Worthington & Megson the best 2 left backs we've ever had.

Don was a leader but Irish scored more goals

Both brilliant players & characters

I had the pleasure of meeting Don at a book signing in the Sheridan Suite a few years ago & I was able to thank him for the 1966 Cup run. Completely reliable week after week. When you're young you expect your heroes to play well in every game; they don't of course but Megson came close because I don't really recall him having a bad game. Consummate professional. No surprise that he & Pearson were the club captains in Wednesday's best post war periods.

only the most rabid owl would think megson was better than Wilson ……Catterick tried to sign Wilson when he was with us and offered megson and money but hudders said no ..megson was a very good 1st division full back but  Wilson was world class in the mid 60s
