Ross Barkley, Michail Antonio, James Maddison.

Depends on if you mean at that moment I saw them play or how good they later went on to be/ how good they once were.

Des Walker would get in pretty much any team I’ve seen play.

For us: Either Chris Waddle or David Hirst

Best visiting player at Hillsborough: Gazza when he came and ripped us a new one

Michael Owen particularly in 98 when he scored a hatrick to deny us 3 points.

For us Waddle or Des Walker both had class by the bucket load

Gazza just before the World Cup simply brilliant by far the best player I’ve seen live and probably would be had we been in the top division ever since a genius

Based on performances against us in particular:

Gazza

Owen

Lineker

Le Tissier

Based on what they achieved in the game (and still usually played decent against us)

Keegan (Only saw him the once when he played for Newcastle and was past his best but I think that was the first time I ever saw a really big name play against us, which was exciting. He scored a pen and we won 4-2)

Shilton

Robson

Shearer

Beckham

Scholes

Beardsley

Hoddle

Wilkins

Lampard

Posted (edited)

John Barnes 1988

SWFC 1-5 Liverpool, Beardsley and Johnstone got two each but it was Barnes that ran the show. The best performance I’ve ever seen by an individual apart from Waddle v WHU

Despite being England's all time leading scorer and second most capped player ever, I don't think Wayne Rooney ever actually played against us which is unusual. Well maybe not that unusual, we were shiiit for most of his career!

I wondered if he may have played against us in a friendly for Everton in 2004 when they won 6-3 but it seems not.

Although he only won 2 of the 12 or 13 games he played at Hillsboro, Tony Adams always stood out as a great defender and leader.

Agreed February 1998, its the best individual performance  I have seen regardless of nationality.

Best English Wednesday player the forgotten man always seems to be Trevor Francis well past his best but for 20 mins. you could tell why Clough pid a record transfer fee for him
