But you were saying that the squads should be smaller? How many players would you suggest they have in a squad then?

Make it 20 or whatever, doesnt matter. Point is many players wouldnt be happy waiting for to be rotated, so would move to find first team football. The talent pool at the top clubs would be diluted and the talent spread further.

they'd be lucky to escape the group games. anyone worth their salt would play abroad where you're not expected to work your kn****rs off twice a week, with no subs.

maybe we could all have a 30 odd year old car, and keep fit by shoving the b***ard or walking home.

Oh boo hoo. Heart bleeds. Hard life or what

your heart wouldn't bleed for them, as they'd be playing abroad, and putting the english sides out of the european competitions at the same time as all the other british clubs go out.

Spread all over Europe I would imagine. Where decent football would be played. Just face it, 1 sub and 20 man squads is a terrible, terrible idea.

Depends what you are trying to do? 1 sub would make much more interesting in my view

So you can't change tactics?

one sub?

its all over at half time then mate...

i realise you mean its the same for everyone, but it would be a bit stale wouldn't it?

Well it removes the option of having a bench full of international options rich clubs can buy two a penny for a start

So how does this make the football more interesting?

Makes it proper 11 v 11 for a start.

Also stops clubs fielding weekend teams in the cup relying on subs to bale them out when its all going wrong. Makes them field their strongest team all the time.

It doesn't Billy..Cos who's the arbiter of what is "the strongest side"..Bearing in mind most top clubs prioritise 3rd place above an F.a cup win

By 'proper 11 v 11' do you mean 'like it was in 1960'?

It's a tripe notion. Stop it.

The whole basis of my argument is to reduce the power of the large clubs and to try and even the odds on the pitch.

Thats it. Couldnt care less about financial impact or players crying about not lasting 90 mins twice a week.

The big clubs would still have power, would still attract the bigger players and would still dominate. All you would achieve is making football in the UK utter dross to watch.

Times have changed. To echo your own sentiment, if you don't like it, tough.
