dunsbyowl
Just out of interest, a few snippets regarding the homecoming of the Wednesday (and Everton) on 15th May 1966 after the FA Cup final. Obviously educational standards were still pretty basic in 1960s Sheffield :-) Reminds me of Leeds and their chant "Champions of Europe" So either 100,000 or 200,000 Wednesday fans welcomed the team back!! OhForAnotherShez
Got the photo near Atkinsons somewhere in the attic - and others. See the guy holding up the team photo (or similar) in front of the bus? Well I'm the bloke in the top hat just above RHS. Fame at last Eh?
sternlad
Great photos Dunsby...your attic must be full. I was there that day but can only remember being near the station, is that where the coach picked the team up from? Didn’t follow the coach through town though, think we watched it go past and then beetled off to Fox House for a paddle at Padley Gorge.
Lincs Owl
I got home from London about 4am Sunday morning and managed to get to Town Hall even though I was living in Scunthorpe at the time. Was a bit bleary eyed. Never 200,000 there, although I think Leeds reserves got more that time they won the Central League. It was packed outside the Town Hall, that's all I remember.
fatzooma
There used to some photos around the pool table in The Ball at Crookes of the reception, but I’ve never seen them anywhere before.
