Westwood update

Recommended Posts

This is all assumptions and guesswork, but I'd imagine, we've offered Westwood a pretty lucrative offer salary wise. And in my opinion, he should absolutely only be offered a one year deal if he stays as a high earner. There's far too much risk of having him sat in the treatment room for long periods.

If he wants a two year deal...fine...give it him...but he takes a substantial pay cut, to avert the risks of having a high earner constantly injured. Maybe give him an added bonus if he plays in 95% of our competitive games?

Put the ball in his court...how confident is he that he'll stay fit?

I think we have to weigh up how much it would cost to sign another keeper of the same quality as Westwood . Personally i think giving Westwood a two year deal would be more cost  effective .

Give him 2 years.

To to be fair Keepers get better as they get older.

Not it like he’s a central midfielder whose legs are gonna go or a winger aka Jones & Boyd

It's impact injuries I'd be wary of with Westwood. Fantastic keeper but he isn't the most robust physically. 1yr + option would be sensible way forward for us.
