Weirdly we could have had Vincent Sasso that summer for peanuts but instead opted to spooge £4m on a defender who can’t defend

:duntmatter:

Sasso was a freebie,but.....he wanted first team guarenteed in his contract, hence we didnt do a deal.

Loved him thought he was cracking defender and possible CM when Hutch went down

the only manager jva played under was Carlos the clown

serious question

did Carlos improve any player in his 3 seasons here?

id give JVA another chance but that performance against pigs was only topped by tom lees performance against Middlesbrough at home this season for worst cb performance I've seen from a Wednesday player

Good question.

I would say, Tom Lees really came on in his time under Carlos, bear in mind the massive shift in footballing style. (If anyone's forgot, watch a full match from the season under Gray, the football was so BAD)
Bannan, before Carlos, he could never settle in a team and found himself out on loan and then released. So that has to be a well done to Carlos.
Forestieri that first season was amazing. Pretty sure he wasn't playing like that for Watford the season before, or they wouldn't have sold him.

Kieran Lee, lets remember, although he played alot under Gray and found his feet in midfield, Carlos got goals and assists out of him and he became arguably the best CM in this league for 2 and half years.

Even players like Wallace and Hooper had 1/2 years of playing their best football under Carlos.

I would also add Hutchinson to that list. CC played him regularly and gave him confidence.

Not sure FF was as good a player as when he arrived by the time CC left though.

Don’t be a drama queen. You obviously never saw Danny Maddox, Chris Carr or Ashley Westwood ‘play’ for Wednesday!!:ghoulguy:

The Championship is a tough league to adapt to especially for foreign players .

He may crack it under Bruce's guidance ,let's hope he does

Let’s hope he’s transfer listed more like. Awful defender!

awful constantly injured ,he is also so slight nowhere big or strong enough to handle himself in championship football ,he is a younger version of abdi . cost a 4 million fee , say 20k  a week that's 8 million completely wasted along with so many what has been bordering on criminal waste of money. steve bruce might make an odd mistake in the transfer market but not mistake after mistake like the clown did and the stupid advisers what sent us these duff/injury prone players , they can find another fool to dump there rubbish on in future.

He got his ankle smooshed to pieces in a cup game, it was hardly something of his own making. Then had a serious hamstring tear. Let him get a pre-season under his belt with Bruce and let's see if he can get back to form again.

he's certainly got a lot to prove once he's fit …….if he cant  it's not going to be easy to shift him out without us taking hit on the transfer fee and the player on his wages coz the sort of club he'd attract wouldn't be able to reach the figures required .

I remember Chris Carr and Ashley Westwood but can't remember a player called Danny Maddox.

haven't caught up with this whole thread, but JVA now has a manager who might turn him into a defender

We have to get behind all the players ruined by Jos. If they are still bobbins then we can show our desire to move them on
