Paul..
I'd take Hector in a heartbeat over Cahill, who the player supports is irrelevant.
Rogerwyldesmullet
Offer Chelsea Sam back in exchange for Hector and Cahill. No more bullying of our team. Guaranteed promotion Make Cahill player coach HMS PTL Easy this management lark.

Emerson Thome
He would clearly be one of our best players if he came, even at 33. But agree, even with say, a halving of his wages, to 45k, it would be a much better investment to recruit a slightly inferior player like Hector who has his best years ahead of him. What we would save in wages could go towards the transfer fee, plus Hector (or similar profile player) would have resale value. Depends I guess how much you value leadership as well, Bruce did after all sign John Terry...

Gob_Bluth
Cahill turned down moves to Monaco & Juve in the January transfer window. He's not coming here, some of you need to have a word with yourselves

shezzas left peg
I wouldn't rule it out. One old head in the back four, especially someone with the leadership qualities of a cahil to help the keeper Marshall and keep young players in position could be priceless. Bruce had Dawson at Hull and brought Terry to villa, so I wouldn't put it past him. We have Lees and Thornily is almost ready for me to step up into there, so having someone like him could really aid his development. If due to financial reasons we can't Buy Hector since he would command a fee of some sort. it would make perfect sense on a free transfer, especially as we've just freed a bucket full of wages up. So for me I do think there's a chance it could happen.

Agreed I think his treatment by Sarri means he wants another season in the PL (or other top league) to prove he’s still good enough.

Hack-Abusi
This is one exception to the rule of signing young players etc Cahill, on a 1 year deal possibly, would be a very astute addition alongside Hector or someone brought in (Kalas / Omeruo) if he took a big pay cut and wanted a swansong with his supported club. Its only like Terry at Villa and it nearly came off. Now he's coaching there. same could happen with Cahill and i've a feeling he might be up for that . Would be a good signing

The same reason that Man Utd are struggling (no leader) And Man City will strive to replace Kompany in the near future .. Leading Centre Backs are the "Hens teeth" in football .. Micheal Hector is our "Hens tooth" along with Westwood They would be probably our greatest signings if we can pull it off? Hector even with a fee will more than likely be far cheaper than what Cahill would demand in wages ? What's he on 100 grand a week ? 1 premier league game 3 EFL cup games 4 Europa League games This seasons appearances .......

Would rather have Hector because it's realistic and long term a better financial decision, but if it came to a one off shoot out between choosing one Cahil wins everytime, won everything there is to win and a load of caps for England. If Wednesday fans think they could turn down a player of Cahill's ability there will be some disappointed people this summer with what we sign. Irrelevant anyway because he'll be signing for another Premier League side or a big club abroad.

I would love for us to keep Hector too as he's been immense this season and the one good thing from jos reighn. So I don't disagree with you bud. Our problem will be the parachute payment teams and maybe one or two of the promoted teams wanting Hector. That very likely start a bidding war, not just on the transfer fee but wages as well and we all know how it works with the financial un-fair play rules and parachute payments. Even if he wanted to be back here, it would still come down to us being able to stump the cash up?. Hence we may have to look for a much cheaper short term replacement.
