Charity Challenge. Need your help!

Recommended Posts

In exactly two weeks time I should hopefully have just completed this epic challenge. Aiming for around 16 hours non stop, setting off at 4am Not hit my target amount but would love to at least get to £400 so any help is much appreciated, even if it's the price of a pint!

200 miles ridden this week and heading into my final week of training. While I won't hit my £500 target, I am only £80 short of the £400 mark and would be great to see if I can raise that.

So if anyone won the lottery last night feel free to do a quid or two to this great cause and give yourself a warm fuzzy glow inside!

This time next week I will be riding this. In fact by this time I will have already ridden 4 hours with another 12 to go!! Sadly the weather looks like rain all day but fingers crossed it may change by then! Getting close to hitting 75% of my target amount which would be great, even if I can't make it 100%. Is a great charity folks so please dig deep if you can is all really appreciated and a great motivation.

Daztheowl. Many thanks for your kind donation mate

Hi Brett

My wife and I went through the tragedy of stillbirth in January and  know how valuable the memory boxes are.

I wish you the very best of luck and will definitely be sponsoring you.

Paul

So sorry to hear that Paul. We suffered 4 miscarriages which were hard enough so I cannot imagine how much harder your tragedy is to deal with. It's good to hear how the boxes can help a ittle.

Hopefully my efforts can bring a little light into the suffering

Monumental task ahead for Brett, let's try and give him that extra incentive. Even a quid adds up.

Good luck and godspeed Brett.

I'll echo that.

One thing I will add, pace yourself.

Donation sorted for you.

Your a legend mate cheers, really appreciate it.

And yeah pacing absolutely. One advantage of having ridden most of it before is I know where I can gain time, where to show and where I will start to feel like the Walking Dead!

Finally on my way to strange land where they talk funny and drink too much.

But once I've passed Leeds I'm heading to Scotland.

Just wanted to say a big thankyou to everyone that has donated. It's not too late to donate if you fancy helping out.

I shall be starting the ride at 4am and if it goes to plan finishing around 8pm. Terrible weather up there at the moment but looks to be dry for tomorrow.

Lot of training good into this, just want to get rolling now.

Thanks for all your support folks, means a lot

Cheers

Brett

Very long day. After 3 hours sleep set off at 4.30am. Finished at midnight. Mate fell off twice (including 50ft down a cliff into a cage and only suffered grazes!) and had to retire which meant lost about 3 hours. After that pace was in line with the target 16 hours. About 5 hours was carrying and pushing the bike. She performed brilliant. It's very tough terrain, lot of big rocks, drainage channels, loose gravel and boulders and she didn't put a foot wrong. Really the toughest thing I will ever do. Went over the bars on conic hill. Loch lomond section is just a stupid place to try and take a bike!! Cut knee on brake caliper while pushing. Cut other knee bashing against a tree. Brake lever to the forehead. Toe cramps. Sore calf from bashing on pedals while pushing. Sure shoulder from home a bike sections plus lugging about the bike for hours up and over obstacles. Get sure from walking in cleats over rocks. Thighs feeling the pain of 12,000 ft of climbing. Back killing and I can't even put on my own socks!! Managed a 10th best of all time in one section and an achievement that few have done and redemption for failing last time out A big thankyou to everyone that had donated and generally supported my effort. Really is appreciated. Cheers BrettIMG_20190529_194550_914.thumb.jpg.f51bdcd8fcfad2e5213b26308668373c.jpgIMG_20190529_183651_478.thumb.jpg.926352d501f2108566af72c7eb6a6753.jpgIMG_20190529_192925_387.thumb.jpg.4d647ec5fc20aba404444483c7a08ebf.jpgIMG_20190529_182753_151.thumb.jpg.3f87d5dd91634bb4f47be6d285f7095e.jpgIMG_20190529_192925_389.thumb.jpg.ad521c0a88fe12b544937719643f795f.jpgIMG_20190529_183018_620.thumb.jpg.31d811f3c575223514329fb152d0bdb9.jpgIMG_20190529_182450_379.thumb.jpg.97f20339a70f19f635ca6546d4db038c.jpgIMG_20190529_182148_016.thumb.jpg.7393c29848cc822d31455d0480d78908.jpg

Well done Brett. Absolutely phenomenal achievement. I managed 10k on the exercise bike at the gym today, which, for me, is an achievement. To do 16 times that over that terrain is superhuman. I salute you.

Well done mate, great effort.

For me the milage wasn't that bad (I've done more on training rides). But it's the terrain. At one point it takes around 3  hours to cover 2 miles!!

Finally getting things sorted now I'm back on my feet. The total raised is £895 towards Abbies Fund against an original target of £500.

Thank you so much to everyone that had supported me in this, whether with donations or just encouragement. It is really humbling and you all have played a part in helping me succeed in my hardest ever task.

I shall be leaving the donation page open so if you wish to do donate you can of course do so.

Thanks Brett

Some of you kindly supported my charity endeavour to ride the West Highland Way in a single day. Ive finally got the video finished so if you fancy grabbing a brew and having a watch and forgetting Sheff Wed for half an hour, go for it. Thanks to all of you that supported me.
