Steve Gibsons declaration of war today

Recommended Posts

The meeting of all Championship clubs is set for the City Ground today to discuss the financial conduct of Wednesday Villa and Derby.

Seems that its not just Gibson that is angry about our conduct - many other clubs are too - and they are demanding an EFL investgation. Also increased transparency over P&S rules and how clubs are conducting themselves.

Be interesting to see how this one plays out. I wonder, in the absence of Katrien, who will be attending to represent us and state the argument for our defence

It's the EFL we answer to, not other clubs.

I think the other clubs know that which is why they're meeting to prepare a case to put to the EFL

In someways would rather it happen now so if any penalty is to be enforced regarding points it would be enforced this season like Birmingham Cities. Would have no real consequences to us. That is if the EFL are even attending this. There have been rumours that Leeds and the Pigs have also been making noises in the background which is a bit like pot calling kettle as both have got away lightly in the past. Leeds on more than 1 occasion under Ken Bates.

Gibson to ring a D-Taxi during the meeting. If one turns up then no case to answer. Can’t blame him really.

I would love DC to show a pair and go on the offensive and change the meeting into the massive issue affecting the whole league parachute payments giving teams like Middlesbrough an unfair advantage to the tune of £40m a season.

Every team get this sort of money each season no one breaks FFP except Villa and Birmingham.

Teams not getting parachute payments should be allowed for their owner to put more money in to match up the financial limitation imposed on those teams not getting the failure payments.

Would agree with this. If owners put in place financial guarantees to the EFL that they pick up the tab not the club. That would be then be upto owners what they were willing to risk much as what DC has said in the past.

The irony is that Middlesbrough have never been run sustainably and have relied on a benefactor. It’s all a bit pot, kettle.

If we are operating within the laws or if there is a loophole then we can’t be blamed

Don't really understand the constant attack on the EFL as a result of them applying UEFA rules

This could get messy.

P&S does need sorting out once and for all though, the way it currently works isn’t sustainable. We are going to get to a point where every club is affected by it or clubs stop spending and the product will fade.

My god. Could you imagine Chansiri trying to fight our corner against all these angry owners.

It will be so much sweeter next season when we win the league at home to Boro on the last day of the season, simultaneously condemning Boro to a 7th place finish, with Sunderland taking 6th spot on goal difference, after Fletcher rolls in a 96th minute penalty to seal our 7-0 win.

Are you sure the meeting as been called to discuss individual clubs?

Is it a private meeting or sponsored by the ELF ?

The accounts have nothing to do with Middlesbrough we are answerable to the League.

The best thing Chansiri  could do is send in the club's legal team to represent the club

Only one flaw in that plan. Fletcher would miss

I have a feeling that Wednesday will just receive a slap on the wrist, maybe a points deduction but have it suspended.
