That was the Fernando of old, the player many of us thought had succumbed to injury and had become a shell of his former self.We could all see tonight that  he was on it from the start. He was drifting into those areas we know he thrives in. None of that playing up top with his back to goal sheeite. A stunning goal and hopefully food for thought for the Gaffer.

Bruce will have seen that and I have no doubt it will have made a big impression on him in terms of horses for courses.

Bruce hit the nail on the head post match - “Fernando looked fit for the first time in ages”

He’s been struggling for 2 years now - if he can stay fit for a whole season he is a match winner.

Good point about his fitness. Some of our posters seem too quick to write off players when they’re coming back from injury. It can take time to get back to full match fitness and get the confidence back.

 

The same mistake was made with Antonio.

A season of performances similar to tonight and it’ll be beautiful to watch. 

 

Oh, and his goal deserved about 3 goals.

Definitely can. 

 

I think with us though, we see 1 player literally get injured per week, on top of the long term ones, and we’re just so down about it that we don’t know who anyone is anymore or what they’re capable of.

Yep the injury situation over the last couple of seasons has been pretty depressing.
