Well, he is likely to be assessed on his overall performance for this game and it won't make very good reading for him.

All he has to say is “in my opinion 5:30 additional time was needed. The foul happened just before that time was up so I thought it best - using my discretion - to allow it to be taken.”

I doubt they’ll actually ask him to show how he came to a figure of 5+ minutes.

Fair enough, We could be here all night so we will have to just agree to disagree on the time issue.

Not to be condescending but your reply specified only about the time issue again when my post stated that overall his assessment won't make good reading (not referring to the time issue at all) as he got many big issues that affected the game wrong. I have highlighted the word overall just in case you missed it, I don't doubt that you understand it!

ok we'll agree to disagree but where he positioned himself yes he had no chance, but I'm saying he should have anticipated I left footed player 90%of the time is going to stick it in that corner, going to take some strike to put in the other corner from there

It would have been an easier strike with the left foot to put it into the other side of the goal if the keeper was trying to cover the same side as the wall!

That’s why I followed up with the comment about Fletcher’s goal. I re-read your post just after I’d pressed submit.

Just as an aside, I just realised that Norwich made a substitution in added time, so we should’ve at least expected it to have gone beyond five minutes anyway.

You should have realised that before, plenty have already made reference to it in this thread, including in replies to your posts! :Sid:

I didn’t read them all. I was too baffled as to why nobody knew what minimum meant.

Feck off so no other goalkeeper in the world could've saved that take your blinkers off, fecking to$$er see I'm being hard and a keyboard warrior as well

Oh

You are so getting a permanent warning for that.

No, sorry you didn't say it to a snowflake mod and his girlfriend, as you were.

Just looking at our bench again and it seems we didn't name a sub keeper.

Did anyone see Wildsmith on the bench, or do we normally only take two keepers with us to away games? Seems incredibly risky if so - especially given what happened with Westwood then Dawson's good fortune in getting only a yellow for handling outside the area.

haven't read all posts since page 16 but have you ever seen so many players with a sense of entitlement as Norwich tonight. Appealing for everything and aggressive with it. No way was that a foul by Mattias either Norwich player threw himself across him.

And those commentators on Sky must have been born in Norwich and own shares in the company.  Only come in now had match recorded.

Rant not quite over yet. muttering to myself--warned cat to keep her distance.

On a positive note we generally played well.

I love some of the "blame" comments in these threads

As fans we can't possibly just say "thats too good" there has to be someone to scapegoat

Well thats just rounduns

Last night we saw 2 goals that were just unstoppable, one for us, one for them, both were just "too good" and no one was at fault for either

Not sure you can add another player can you if you lose one in the warm up ?

Or do you say we should name 2 keepers on the bench ?

sorry if i'm wrong these are questions not statements

I'm surprised that we only take the 18 players with us that will be in the matchday squad.

I'd always just assumed we took more. In fact, though I don't recall whether it was home or away, I do recall it not being the first time within recent memory that we've made changes to the starting 11 after injuries during warm-up, but I don't recall us ever naming one sub less on the bench because of it.

And no, 2 keepers on the bench would obviously be overkill, but like I say, I would have expected 3 keepers to travel as part of the group, even if only 2 would ever typically be named.

You think that Dawson or any keeper stops that freekick then you're a girl

come on Mick  you specialise in criticising silly things people say  that's an example

it was a well worked pro free kick A) diving to get it B) adjusting ball position to make it scorable C) hitting it perfectly

my heart sank at that freekick we all knew it was going in

Dawson like most keepers wouldn't have got to it but the one's with that bit extra might have a finger tip to it    I've blind confidence in westwood's form at the moment and perhaps 'girlishly' think he just might have got a hand to both who can tell but the clean sheet comparison tells you something

There was only one place that freekick was going the top left hand corner and he is stood predominantly in the right side of his goal he should've anticipated that

Myself and son observed exactly the same thing. Yes it was an excellent free kick but Dawson didn’t help himself with his starting position

Stop being so sensitive when people question a Wednesday player and where he might have done better I could understand if it was abusive but it hasn't been

I’m not that person.. and calling it blame is harsh.

It was just an observation prior to the kick being taken.

Blame appears after the event.

Moreover, I was delighted with last nights performance overall.

where should he have been ?

His starting position ( and i've just checked ) as the ball is struck is almost central in the goal moving to his left ) should he have been even further left ?

Had he been and had Vrancic placed it the other side would his starting the position still have been wrong ?

Or was it just a world class strike like i think it was that gave him no chance

I don't think he could have done better in that circumstance

He was beaten by a fabulous free kick

I just want someone to tell me where he should have stood

One guy on here said he was almost on the opposite post ................. he wasn't he was perhaps one step away from dead centre at the point the shot was struck

Maybe i'm wrong maybe the way a Keeper sets a wall to cover one side while he covers the other has changed and my understanding of the game is just outdated, maybe ( though i doubt it ) Keepers these days are taught to stand behind their wall because that's the only way Dawson would have got near that ball
