Dream Team- The formation

Right. I'm doing the old dream team. We're going to have an Owlstalk collaboration over the next month.

 

I'll probably make the rules up as I go along. But at the minute I think I'm going to limit it to players post 1960 as anyone before that most people won't have seen.

Sorry to our older members...

 

Secondly, I think I'm going to stick something in like... they must have played 50 games minimum.

Anway...all that's to come.

 

Before filling in this team...I want to the formation in place. I want players in to fit the system.

So without further ado. Get picking our set up.

 

I've probably forgot one. But you'll just have to lump it.

Well you've got to include Nilsson so it needs full backs. And you've got to include Waddle so it needs wide players. And given the choice for strikers you've got to have two.

 

So that only really leaves the good old 442

I agree with Alan. 4-4-2 as a starting formation. We have all watched games which end up 5-5-0 or 3-4-4 but only because of reacting to how the match pans out but with the same players who begin as a 4-4-2

personally I’d swap Pearson and Walker round. And Palmer and Sheridan. 

 

I presume you didn't see Shelton play, hence going for Bannan. 

 

Alexanderson (and Harkes for that matter) were very much right sided players rather than left sided. I’d definitely play Di Canio there over Alexanderson.
